I think the motto “Pro deo et humanitate” might cross the line for a great many Americans, but the red cross does not since it is recognized world-wide as a symbol of mercy and aid.  I think you are reaching when you try to enflame the issue thus.  If they are provocative, respond with more reason than “the sky is falling” which, frankly, that’s what that sounds like.
They should make it a simple red cross though, not the pointed one they currently use.
Thanks for your work, government and religion do not mix.  However, any soldier who puts himself in the line of fire for my sorry butt can profess any damned thing they like, and I support their right to do so.  If there are offended parties inside that unit, then certainly remove it.  If there are not, I think I care far less about it.
