“Forgive them Father for they know not what they do”! I hope these words ring a bell with those that would deny Jesus Christ and Rev. Franklin Graham’s scheduled invocation at the Pentagon’s Day of Prayer.

It is said of our outstanding military personnel that there are no Atheist in foxholes which means that God will be called on to help protect those brave young Americans in harm’s way. I just can’t imagine  soldiers under fire calling on “Political Correctness” to help protect them! Can you? I have always been taught that if one denies Jesus Christ on earth, He will deny you before the Father! I believe that!  Yes, i am a Christian and YES we are a Christian Nation!

In response:

Mr. (name withheld)

To begin with, (name withheld), I wonder if the Moody Group and its “Global
Peace Partners” understands just what you’ve done in writing to us
using their “stationary” to advocate for the raging bigot, Franklin
Graham – a man who actually wrote an OpEd that he had published in the
NY Times in which he actually defended genocide perpetrated by African
Christians against African Muslims. I wonder how the Moody Group’s
Global Peace Partners in Iraq would appreciate that someone from the
Moody Group has actually gone out of his way to defend a defender of
genocide against their fellow Muslims. Sir, it looks like you’ve
exposed yourself.

Further, your implication that the MRFF’s mission is political
correctness demonstrates even more clearly your ignorance. We
represent the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces as well as
Veterans who are suffering religious discrimination at the hands of
their peers, their superior officers and even their health care
providers. Over 90% of those we represent are Christians who suffer
discrimination at the hands of fundamentalist Christians like yourself
who accuse them of not being “Christian enough”. Of course we also
represent atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Wiccans, etc.
Your hard right, fundamentalist coreligionists in the U.S. Armed
Forces are very busy inflicting their religion of hate on others,
threatening others and even violently assaulting their fellow
soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. Contrary to your ignorant
assertion, there are many, many atheists serving in combat zones with
the U.S. Military; sadly it is your coreligionists who routinely
harass and threaten them, even going so far as to threaten to kill one
atheist soldier because he had the temerity to decline to attend
predatory “bible studies” and “prayer meetings” held for his company
in Iraq. The truth is, there are many people of different faiths and
no faith at all in foxholes, there just are no “good” fundamentalist
Christians there – they are hateful predators and deserve of our
contempt.

Regarding your assertion that the United States of America is a
Christian Nation is not only easily disproved by even a cursory
reading of the Constitution and the writings of our Founding Fathers.
I am not going to waste much time on you because I know you’re just
one more of an endless stream of haters; however, I will point out one
clear piece of evidence that disproves your claim that this is a
Christian nation. The 1796 Treaty of Tripoli was ratified by the U.S.
Congress in 1797 and immediately signed into law by President John
Adams. Article 11 of the treaty reads, “As the Government of the
United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the
Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against
the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said
States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any
Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext
arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of
the harmony existing between the two countries.” In signing the treaty
President Adams penned the following statement on the treaty document,
“Now be it known, That I John Adams, President of the United States of
America, having seen and considered the said Treaty do, by and with
the advice and consent of the Senate, accept, ratify, and confirm the
same, and every clause and article thereof. And to the End that the
said Treaty may be observed, and performed with good Faith on the part
of the United States, I have ordered the premises to be made public;
And I do hereby enjoin and require all persons bearing office civil or
military within the United States, and all other citizens or
inhabitants thereof, faithfully to observe and fulfill the said Treaty
and every clause and article thereof.” So, you see, just because
bigots like you keep repeating the same lie that this is a “Christian
nation” does not make it so.

In conclusion, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been
flooded with hate mail and death threats from people like you. People
like you have shot out the windows in the home of the founder and
President of the foundation, Mr. Weinstein, several times, slashed his
tires too many times to count and have even marked his home with Nazi
graffiti. The FBI has determined that there are sufficient enough
serious threats on the lives Mr. Weinstein and his wife and family
that they have become involved. I’m sure your proud of the hate and
vitriol of your coreligionists, however I can’t help but find it
ironic that fundamentalist Christian haters are wont to call the
Muslim religion a religion of hate, while the Christian Church has
been responsible for centuries of genocide and slaughter. It is folks
like you that brought us the Inquisition, the Crusades, countless
pogroms and the Holocaust. And it’s worth noting that for hundreds of
years, while the Christian nations of the world were engaging in
forced conversions as well as rounding up Jews like me, and expelling
and slaughtering us. And now you defend a man who defends the genocide
of Muslims by Christians and yet you have the gall to attack the
actual peaceable work our foundation does in defending the religious
liberty of all our servicemen and women and veterans, even Christians.

So don’t bother writing back and parroting any more of your fictions;
I have no more time for your ignorance and hate.
