Hello, my name is David Howard. I’m a sophomore at Rice University (studying chemical engineering), although I’m from New York. I was always raised to follow the golden rule when I grew up, as my Catholic mother and Jewish father were never very religious. I’m personally an agnostic, and while I almost never get harassed myself, I can’t help but admire what you are doing. Everyone has the right to live with their own belief system in peace, and it’s unfortunate that many cannot seem to respect this. Your mission to keep the army as secular as possible is an astoundingly important goal, and I wanted to let you know that many of us out here appreciate it. I’m not sure how much I can help as a broke college student, but if for any reason you guys ever need a contact at Rice or some engineering help in the future, I would love to aid the cause.
