What happened to our country of civic law?

Sir and Ma’am:
First, allow me to congratulate you for your courage and the battle you wage. I read and re-read the recent TruthOut.org article and immediately felt relieved that you are tilting at windmills that are very scary monsters, indeed. Thank you.
As a disabled Army veteran who also worked as an advocate for veterans as the associate EX-POW Coordinator and rating specialist for the VA Regional Office in Louisville, KY, it does my heart good knowing there are voices of reason and sanity working to support troops as well as protect the Constitution.
In the past 10-20 years I have often asked former Army buddies and friends “just when did my country lose its collective mind?” No one seemed to notice or care that some of the messengers were closer to the Taliban than most moderate Muslims. That alone scares me, and then to hear the former Governor of Alaska describe her son’s deployment to Iraq as a “member of Christ’s Army” sent shivers down my spine.
I didn’t serve 2 years on the Korean DMZ and destroying my lower spine by jumping out of helicopters for any “One” God; conversely, I did it to protect Everyone’s choice of religious expression (or not ). That’s how I have always understood our civic duty to apply our jurisprudence, one’s individual conscience notwithstanding. I have set up a small, recurring payment to help fund your efforts and wish we could afford more; but, having 2 children still at home and my medical conditions not having any chance of improving due to the extent and severity of the damage to my spines, this’ll have to do for now.
Good luck in your battles, our country needs you more than it knows.
With Deepest Respect,
(name and location withheld)
