Chaplains Prayers (UNCLASSIFIED)

Dear Sir or Ma’am,

I write to you for information about invocation at all military events.

I find it quite uncomfortable to be in a formation and told to “Let us Pray” and listen to words to the like of heavenly father, lord we ask, kingdom of heaven and amen. Myself and a few other soldier always feel, that if we were to say something, we would be ostracized. Why does the military still allow christian chaplains to perform such prayers? The invocations should be generic and no mention of any specific sect, denomination or group. If the military can be colorless and sexless, then we can be faithless as well.

Chaplains should be left to the side of formations and be approached by the soldiers of that faith to seek spiritual guidance or comfort. It should not be force fed.

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,
