MRFF’s Motto Validated by U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz – Air Force Magazine Daily Report

MRFF’s Motto:

“When one proudly dons a U.S. Military uniform, there is only one religious symbol: the American flag. There is only one religious scripture: the American Constitution. Finally, there is only one religious faith: American patriotism.”

This bedrock motto by MRFF President and Founder Mikey Weinstein appears at the top of MRFF’s website and each monthly newsletter.

Air Force Magazine – Daily Report – 11/24/10

Having Faith in the Academy: The Air Force needs to put “constant attention” on its efforts to promote diversity of beliefs at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz told reporters Tuesday. Responding to questions about the school’s challenges regarding religious tolerance of non-Christians, Schwartz, who is USAF’s first Jewish Chief of Staff, said the Air Force must have access “to the largest possible pool of talent” and can’t afford to discriminate against anyone. Officials must routinely check the academy’s curriculum to ensure that it promotes “diversity and respect” for all beliefs, he said. “This is not about me,” said Schwartz, himself an academy grad. “It’s about our Air Force,” he continued, adding, “We need to be inclusive.” The only faith the academy should be preaching, he said, is “public service.”

Amen! Time to make sure the U.S. Constitution is respected. Keep religion out of state affairs, out the government, and out of the
U.S. Congress. Keep the dingleberry Jesus loving evangelicals who
preach for fame and fortune, keep them out of the military. Keep
religious zeal off the battlefield. The U.S. didn’t defeat Hitler and
Tojo in the name of Jesus, the U.S. military defeated such dictators and
tyranny for freedom and the democratic the rights of mankind.
The Atomic bomb is NOT a Jesus bomb, though there are some generals in
the Air Force who think dropping the atomic bomb will bring the ‘end of
time’ that much closer and the return of their Messiah. What madness.

Jesus did not want us to invade Iraq. Nor did He care about the Taliban
in Afghanistan. The security forces of the U.S. government should be
worried about such terrorists as Osama bin Laden, but not the
Council of Christian Churches. Osama is a Muslim radical. We don’t want
Christian “radicals” going after him. And yes, I enjoy drinking a little
whisky, watching an R rated film, going dancing, swearing a little, and
over eating from time time. To hell with the Sunday School teacher’s
sermon about the evils of alcohol, lust, dancing, cursing, or mild
gluttony. I bet the very same Sunday School teacher has some very weird
sexual fantasies about sheep and/or little girls in beauty contests.

George W. Bush has brought great turmoil and woe upon us when he told America, “God
wanted me to invade Iraq”. He should have said, “America’s security
is at risk, I must stop Saddam Hussein”. But Bush was appealing to the
Christian Right, the “Rapture” idiots, and his appeal proved very popular. Bush is an idiot. His Christian fundamentalist hawks are
fools. What was the name of that letter, “the Lane letter”, signed by a
number of Christian evangelicals that encouraged Bush to invade Iraq?
Evangelicals were not voted into office, nor are they in a position to
advise any president on foreign policy, let alone military strategy.

If we don’t protect the religious freedom that our Founding Fathers
knew would be vital to a strong and democratic America, we might one
day wake up and find ourselves living in a Christian Gulag, with the
unfaithful being publicly humiliated or punished for their ‘sins’.

I live in the Ozarks, a backward region of America, where 18th century
notions of Christian fundamentalism influence every aspect of life.
If you want to be a public school teacher in this region, you’d better
attend a Baptist church EVERY Sunday morning. And kiss the minister’s ass. If you want to be a successfull businessperson in the Ozarks you had
better contribute generously to your local church and make sure that
your fellow citizens know about such contributions. Those who question the local Christian dogma are quickly ostracized. This is not Christianity, it is religious fascism. Hitler would understand such
a system of belief. Will America one day become a fascist ‘Christian’
state, if it isn’t already? I told the local minister what he could do
with his geek sermons and pulpit authoritarianism.

KEEP Christian fundamentalism and all religious zeal out of the
military academies. America is a free and democratic nation that
protects the religious beliefs of all citizens. The U.S. Constitution is
not a Christian document. It is a document protecting the rights of all
men and women, regardless of color, creed, or religion. European Jews
would understand why religious freedom is so important.
