I just read some of your mail and my reaction to it, if you’ll pardon the expression, is HOLY COW!
I had no idea how insidious the infusion of religion into our armed services has become and how little the Authorities seem to care. Obama and Gates must put a stop to this tragedy on their agenda – at high priority – or the day will come when these fundamentalist officers will say we’re starting our own war on Satan or some such. They’ll likely follow their ideologue fascist predecessors and, like the SS, burn synagogues, attack non-fundamentalist non-conforming churches, and hunt down us atheists to be guests of honor at their lynching parties.
This seems farfetched to some but a decade or so back who would have thought our military would become an arm of the fundamentalists and in 1933 I bet people thought such things couldn’t happen in Germany either – but they did. All we need is another far right-wing president and we’re off to the races.
Please keep up the struggle; we appreciate your work. You’re doing the job that an uncorrupted White House and Pentagon should be doing – getting religion out of the military and our government. Though we’re not rich, we’ll be putting MRFF on our list for a contributions as soon as we complete our previously made obligations.
