Prayer

Published On: January 25, 2011|Categories: MRFF's Inbox|0 Comments|

Hello,

I just felt compelled after reading your letter calling for the rescind a religious luncheon speaker to tell you that I am praying for your organization. I believe God is working through Lt. McClary and I pray that God will open your hearts to the love and kindness he can offer you.

God bless!

Hello ,

Thank you for contacting MRFF and for your prayers.

Mikey and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation are not against Christianity; in fact many of us are Christians. Approximately 96% of our 22,000 clients are Christian.

We are not alone in calling for 1st Lt. Clebe McClary to not speak and proselytize at the National Day of Prayer luncheon that is supposed to be non-denominational and inclusive of all religions. Those who oppose 1st Lt. Clebe McClary are-

ACLU of Colorado
Veterans for Common Sense
Americans United
Veterans Today
Interfaith Alliance of Colorado
California Council of Churches IMPACT
United Atheist Front
The American Muslim
Interfaith Freedom Foundation
Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers

We also have hundreds of military cadets and officers at the USAFA. We have veterans from all of the wars…some who have been spiritually raped by the proselytizing done by their superior officers…who are standing up against this. We even received a letter by a soldier that a few of his brothers were contemplating suicide because they saw no way out of stopping the constant barrage of being told they must be “born again.”

What we are against is the takeover of our military by the dominionist fundamental Christians who believe our military should be the “right kind” of Christianity and “Warriors for Christ.” Our clients have been told that Catholics, Protestants, Methodists…mainline Christians…are not going to heaven but will burn in hell for eternity. They have been beaten, harassed, threatened, punished for not attending the “right kind” of Christian events, overlooked for advancement and forced out of the Air Force. Females are told by the Cadets for Christ cult, operating under Lt. Gen Gould, that it is God’s will that they give up their slots to become a pilot in favor of a male. That their role in life is to be a wife (sheep) under her husband (shepherd) and have a Quiverful.

All of this harassment is done “in the name of Jesus” by Christians.

Plus, the rape at the USAFA is at an all time high and rarely is the male punished.

I understand the term “born again” for I am an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God. But the bible states that all you have to do is believe and have faith.

To the woman who had an issue of blood Jesus words are-

“And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” Luke 7:50

To the man who was blind-

“And Jesus said unto him, receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.” Luke 18:42

The sinner on the cross next to Jesus-

“And he said unto Jesus, Lord; remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” Luke 23:42

“And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

A few more-

“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2:21

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

The bible does not make the case for the “Sinners Prayer” but for faith and belief. So to say that a mainline Christian is going to hell because they did not say this type of prayer is unbiblical. Yes, Jesus did say that to Nicodemus that he must be “born again” but in that context Jesus also made the case that fallen angels can not be saved and go to heaven because they were not “born of water.”

Jesus also said to pray for our enemies and love thy neighbor. Though people do not live in my neighborhood they are still my neighbor. The greatest commandment is love irrespective of their religious beliefs.

When Jesus healed he healed ALL.

We fight for the religious beliefs of all people under the Constitution. We fight for the separation of church and state. We fight for the soldiers and cadets who are being proselytized against their wishes with no recourse within the chain of command. We fight to stop our military from forcing out soldiers to cleanse the military and make it a Christian military that answers to a higher power instead of our Commander-in-Chief. We believe that any person that wants to don the uniform of our military to fight for our rights because they love America, no matter their religion, sex or sexual orientation should be allowed to without their superiors blatantly making them feel inferior in God’s eyes and doomed for eternity.

I do understand that we are to preach the gospel of salvation. We have no problem if 1st Lt. Clebe McClary wanted to give his speech off base but to be sanctioned by a military base is against the Constitution, separation of church and state and military law. We are not out to censor anybody…just move it off base.

I applaud him for his honorable service record. My brother also fought in Vietnam and was injured so I know the hardships they faced.

MRFF was nominated twice last year for a Nobel Peace Prize. The day after the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize was announced we were again honored with a nomination for this year.

Please go to MRFF’s website www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org and you will see what we fight for and who we are. We are in no way against Christianity.

God bless,

Pastor Joan
