The Pentagon Christianism strategy.

Dear MRFF,

Keep up the good work. I believe promoting Christianism in the military plays into the self-serving interests of the Pentagon and those politicians, defense contractors, and energy companies that stand to profit from endless wars in Muslim countries. It’s sort of a stealth way of at least symbolically privatizing our troops into mercenaries on a “mission.”

Your exposing this angle – and its long term consequences – may help bring more support to your side. My TRUTHOUT writer friend (name withheld) & I have gotten some exposure of the planned trans-Afghan pipeline, perhaps the real reason why we need 140,000 troops to go after the 80 or so Al Qaida left in that country.

The Christianist angle, and the poverty draft of this Great Recession, appear to be able to keep these wars going for some time to come. And it’s costing us. Fort Drum, near where I live, has lost 256 troops so far, some on their fourth combat tour.
