This has got to be a joke. No one can be this illiterate.

  2. Lee Picton March 30, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Yeah, they can. Have you ever looked at “christian” websites?

  3. Johnson March 30, 2011 at 5:56 pm

And you’ll know they are Christians by their love, huh? Brian, I’m afraid Lee is right.

Jesus said that lots of people will claim to have done great things in his name, but to some he will say ”I never knew you.” He also said ”By their fruits” (stuff like love, peace, patience, loving kindness, self-control) ”shall ye know them.”

Please don’t mistake this nut’s crusade for my faith. I’m sorry you get subjected to this kind of garbage. Some of the Christians MRFF fights are sincerely afraid of going to Hell themselves if they don’t ”preach Christ” at every opportunity, but that letter is in a whole nother realm of Speshul Snowflakery…

It doesn’t sound real to me either, but on the other hand, it’s quite clear that those sentiments are out there. I think of myself as a secular Christian; I don’t believe in the magic but am inspired by Jesus’ example and teachings of nonviolence, tolerance, compassion and charity. He overcame a pretty tough, historically militant culture, not to mention all manner of tribal instincts we still carry in our genes, and gave us a standard of humane conduct that sets followers apart from all those with pettier ones. The Christian zealots we see today, the ones who envision Jesus as a mighty warrior who will lead hordes to vanquish his enemies in a cataclysmic, end-of-the-world holocaust, are not only dangerous but heretical.

But they are the ones leading the religious oppression in our armed services today. I am glad and proud that MRFF is fighting them in another kind of holy war, the kind that regards our Bill of Rights as something close to sacred.

Pretty scary stuff alright but what scares me more is the thought that there are top military brass that feel the same way but they can’t express it like that in fear of being exposed for what they really are.

I would like to “open up a can of whupp ass” on this person, but MY faith tells me to try to forgive them for their bigotry and racism. Sometimes it is hard to be faithful, though! I agree with previous posters that this is probably real; if you ever go over to RedState or similar sites there is lots more of this type of garbage.

Poor guy, misspelled Christian when they apparently are one and managed to spell MRFF wrong but at least they manged to get Jesus right… Mikey, I’d love to help this guy with his English but he’d probably try and kill me since I am one of those, *ahem*, ‘camul jockeys’…

Anyway, I am researching this sort of hatemail for an article I’m publishing sometime in the next few months, what is it with haters of any faith or creed and the inability to spell?!

Religion goes hand in hand with ignorance and illiteracy. Bigotry is the brother of the untutored. This diatribe should be no surprise yet frustrating because we know the numbers that exist who continue to think like this.
The harm to civilization has come from all monthesisms and Christianity is at the top of the heap. This rant flaunts that fact.

“Jew,Scum,Traytor.” Ha, ha, Fred Phelps, as soon as I read those insane and hateful words I just knew it had to be you who posted them!

    Jack,

If you’re researching this type of hate mail, check out http://www.dailykos.com on Saturday at 1:30PM Eastern. Marcos Moulitsas publishes some of the hate mail he gets weekly. After he publishes it, you’re welcome to join in the mockery and grading of that hate mail. The ignorance that makes up the right wing base of the Republicon party in this country is astounding.

This type of screed is what scares me most. His fear of what he neither knows or understands is based on his education. Rather his lack of education. It is obvious by the spelling and grammar errors that he never finished school. At least I hope he never finished school. He is patently unqualified for service in the US Armed Forces or most any employment requiring the slightest amount of education. Sad. Truly sad.

Did anyone else hear banjos while reading this?

    Mikey,
You are doing great and absolutely necessary work. I loved the “Jew Scum Trayter” letter, it spoke so loudly to me about the author and his cause. I think that single letter can do more to further your cause than a thousand statements of support.
