As an Army Captain with (number withheld) years (I got the OCS lobotomy at (number withheld) years), and almost four years now in Iraq, I tell you I just can’t stand it anymore. There is literally constant bombardment of evangelical preaching including Soldiers being “highly encouraged” to attend Financial Peace University, praying in Jesus’ name at countless events, and to conduct so called Fitness Assessments that supposedly measure my Spiritual Fitness.
I have proof that these are not just anonymous surveys. There is a Fort Riley Form that the Soldier (including officers) must complete prior to leave that asks the question, “Does the Soldier have a faith based network?” and they must answer, Go/No-Go. As you know, a No-Go on anything means failure in Army speak. This is signed by all levels in the company. A guys section chief, platoon sergeant, first sergeant, and commander. All seeing this guy – Atheist. You might as well put is the guy a Republican? Go/No-Go. It carries the same burden.
