MRFF Featured by the Colorado Springs Independent – Painting hits a nerve for Air Force Academy grads

Dear Military Religious Freedom Foundation:

As a retired senior officer, Vietnam Vet, and Academy Grad, I became outraged when the Academy began offering tours of Focus on the Family as part of the class reunions. The link between the AOG and active duty staff with Dobson and Haggard was obvious. Constitutional principles and values were being trampled upon by Gen “rock” Weida. When the only uniformed officer to stand up for Constitutional principles was Chaplain and lawyer Melinda Morton while Academy grads on staff and in the AOG stood silent, it became clear the Academy was failing in its mission to train officers. I reported my objections and ended my participation with the AOG.

T. Thompson’s response to this latest insult shows that nothing has changed. I encourage all grads who believe in Constitutional values and the core mission of the Academy to withhold contributions to the AOG. When the Chaplain’s staff returns to 3 Protestant Ministers, 2 Priests, and 1 Rabbi of the 1960s and gets rid of the additional 12 evangelical preachers, maybe the Academy can return to its core mission. No university in the country has a staff of 18 preachers! Why should tax payers in these difficult times fund an additional dozen preachers. It is time we all wake up — grads and tax payers.
