Air Force Class

Dear Military Religious Freedom Foundation:

I recently read about a complaint that was filed by your organisation with regards to a class taught by the US Air Force. I am just a bit baffled by your position on this matter as it appears that your complaint is centered about the quotation of Biblical passages. There is of course no such thing as a ‘separation of church and state’ found in the US Constitution, and likewise there is no separation of the state and religion in the US Constitution. Beyond those matters of simple English and history lies the fact that merely quoting a religious source does in no way establish a religion by the State. I would assume that you agree with certain protections against the US federal government from the establishment of a religion, and on that matter I agree with you. But there is also not only the free practice clause, but also the fact that using various religious materials would not only be somewhat normalised, but would also be expected. We are a people who believe in the freedom of education and information which should include, not exclude, information from various sources. I am quite troubled by your insertion of foreign wording and thoughts into the US Constitution and then expecting the Air Force and federal government to pay heed to your gross misreading of the US Constitution.
