Dear (name withheld),

I know I’ve asked this before, but with our looming end-of-year fundraising deadline, the question is even more vital now: If not you, then who? Who else can I rely on to help ADL fight hate and all its consequences? I dearly hope you’ll stand with us and our community today — because the stakes are higher than ever and I need you to be a leader. Your chance to take action ends tomorrow, at our midnight deadline. It’s critical that you step forward right away and help prepare ADL to fight for a better world in 2012. Make your tax-deductible donation now — help reinforce ADL’s bedrock commitment to defending you and your family from anti-Semitism, bigotry and hate. As a strong and loyal ADL supporter, you know as well as I do that the coming year holds threats and challenges unlike any we’ve faced in years. At home, economic uncertainty and rising political extremism are sowing division. Abroad, the Iranian threat is rapidly escalating, with recent evidence confirming our worst fears of nuclear arms development. I could go on and on, but you’d be reading for hours. Without your generous and immediate support, ADL won’t have the resources to respond the moment our intervention is needed — and, I fear we will be needed far too often. That’s why your personal commitment to fighting hate is so crucial right now. Please make a generous tax-deductible year-end gift before tomorrow’s midnight deadline to help ADL remain vigilant in an increasingly troubled world. Your support, your sense of responsibility to the Jewish community and to anyone victimized by prejudice and hate, your steadfast commitment — all are needed as we enter a year of unknowns. Please let me know I can count on you. With gratitude,

Abraham H. Foxman
National Director
Anti-Defamation League

P.S. If you have already given, thank you for your support. If you are able to add to your gift, it would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Dear Mr. Foxman:

The last time I wrote you was June 7, 2010.
Like all of my other emails, you choose to ignore my communications. However, you seem to have no hesitation in soliciting me for ADL, which I fully understand.

Your silence and indifference is what I do not understand, especially when you claim to be a “Unified Voice of Action”. Mr. Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has demonstrated time and time again their commitment to maintaining the separation of Church and State, exposing un-merciful proselytizing in the Armed Forces and the defense of the violations of Constitutional rights on a daily basis. He continues the fight
in spite of vicious threats on his and his family’s life.

Why can’t you and ADL have some kind of dialogue with this man? What possible harm could it do? It certainly would not dilute the cause. There is no real conflict in your respective missions.

Please extend the courtesy of a response.

Respectfully,
(name withheld)

Pssst, there is a big difference between the actions ,language, attitude and writings of the ADL and MRFF.
The MRFF are like playground bullies and the ADL are adults teaching and addressing problems. MRFF could learn from the ADL ,but my guess is you enjoy being the bullies and love the letters you get from truly confused people who also share your attitude about life and religion. If you were not a tax exempt group,I truly would not care about you as there are so few of you,but tax exempt means, I and many others are making it easy for you to make your living and spread your hatred with taxpayers approval. Now that I object to.

    Hmm – Maggie

Haven’t EVER seen the ADL doing ANYTHING to stop what is going on in the military.

Do you know something we don’t? The Christians have all but taken over.

You seem rather confused too given that the Christians manage to take money DIRECTLY from the military by way of the government building religion specific churches. Not tax exempt donations – DIRECTLY out of EVERYBODY’s pockets.

    Chris P,
With all due respect and I do respect those of you with differing opinions ,religious beliefs and no religious beliefs. This is why we are and have been for many years a military family. I must note a few exceptions for my respect.I do not accept the Jim Jones or any branch of any religion ,groups or people who threaten my country or it’s citizens.
The ADL has been around for many years and does indeed use wisdom and good taste in most of their opinions and endeavors. They tend to exhibit more class and intelligence than your organization ,which I previously stated ,are like playground bullies who like to gloat and gloat and gloat when they celebrate their perceived win .
I am not going to waste my time by repeating what some other thinking people and previous statements I have sent to you have pointed out about the activities you persue ,but I am thinking that there are some really evil people who are indeed racist and against everything all my relatives have fought for. I do not think sending toys to children with a prayer in them is one of them.I think the ADL might help you pick your battles and help you grow up or leave the playground. Some replys from some of you members are as hatefilled and defamatory as some of the letters you receive.
Which puts you on the same level as the people you profess to be fighting against. Once again I say the Chapel at the Academy and I am sure all Chapels at every base were not meant to be a controversy to any one or any religion. They were meant to be a place of peace and comfort. Most built at a time when there were a handful of practiced religions. We have expanded, and I do not think that constitutes a reason for the destruction of that which has helped many . I have said many prayers at the Chapel for all military and their families, because I am Christian I said a Christian prayer, how is that demeaning to anyone? I can only hope that when others from other religions pray to keep our military families safe, they include my family.
