Civil Rights Group Threatens Suit Against Travis Air Force Base

- The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to preserve religious freedom. President of the organization Mikey Weinstein said he has been contacted by 122 people who find the display offensive because of a nativity scene and menorah included among the roughly two-dozen other decorative boards.
- “You are dehumanizing people. You are marginalizing people,” Weinstein said. “We know it’s a violation of the Establishment Clause in the First Amendment.”
- Staff Sgt. Patrick Harrower said the base command is consulting with its legal experts, and is in the process of determining how to proceed.
Weinstein said a federal lawsuit is one of the avenues the foundation is considering if the Travis Air Force Base does not comply with its request.
