Dear MRFF,

Have been trying to send to you people on how much you disgust me with your attack on the Corps. But after reading “Mikey’s” bio it is understandable. Not a fighter in the wole bunch of losers. wingwipers and squids. what else can you expect!

Dear (name withheld),

Thanks for your note.

While I appreciate your effort to uphold the integrity of the USMC I am somewhat disappointed in your lack of knowledge of other branches of the armed forces and their contribution to American values and defense and also the unselfish corps of MRFF Volunteers, many of whom are themselves, combat veterans, who work daily to insure religious freedom for all armed forces members.

It is my belief that any American up on his or her Constitutional knowledge including decisions and rulings made by the US Supreme Court should know that the Marine Fighter squadron situation was a separation of church and state issue settled equitably under the watchful eye of MRFF President Mikey Weinstein whom I believe you referred to as “Wing Wiper.” Had he not been correct you can be sure that the squadron would be flying with those Christian symbols today. Mikey is an Air Force Veteran whose contribution was as great categorically, as anyone’s.

The Marines, as much respect as they deserve for their fighting ability are but one facet of America’s knock out punch. The United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves and Service Academies all play vital roles in America’s defense and and work in harmony together to provide a combination of resources that will always reign victorious in peace and war.

As a nation of laws we are tasked with upholding those laws and not making exceptions for our private belief systems.

Our MRFF volunteer corps contains a number of combat veterans of all branches and I, myself, am a veteran of two combat tours in Vietnam as an Air Force Rescue Helicopter Pilot. So I have wiped a wing or two myself.

(name withheld), the military must remain religion neutral. Otherwise I’m sure you can see the dust up over whose belief supercedes that of others and who’s religious symbols should be used to represent the entire force. I suspect from your note that you are a probably Christian. How would you feel about a US Fighter Squadron made up of a majority of Muslims with a crescent moon and star and the words “Allah is Great” painted on the aircraft?

simple enough! I did two tours in Nam with the Marines as a groundpounder. I am
100% service connected disabled. I am not a christian. and your analogy of the
Muslim fighter squadron proves my point even more. When you people learn that
they all say “not all muslims are terroists” they for get to say that all
terroists have been muslims.

Dear (name withheld),

Thanks again for replying.

In Feb. 1965 we saw two Marine battalions brought into Da Nang. In March the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade followed. We estimated the total to be almost 5000 Marines, including two Infantry battalions, 2 helicopter squadrons, with supply and logistics units.

I was stationed at Phan Rang AFB flying crash rescue and fire fighting and later at Da Nang on AF Rescue and Recovery.

Sorry to hear about your disablement.

We may have differing views on the military and religion but together, remain solidly behind our armed forces.

Stay well,

Rick
