There is no reason I can conjure that you would take it upon yourself to eradicate religion from the Armed Forces other than the fact that you are surely working for the Antichrist.

Though that may seem preposterous to some, it does not to you because you and I both know the truth. Know this Satan, in the end you will ultimately fail.

Oh honestly, (name withheld)…really?

I rarely respond to these emails that we receive, but yours was so dramatic that I couldn’t resist.

So, what faith are you? I ask because I am a Christian, Lutheran to be more exact, and defending religious freedoms for all was never a lesson that I learned to be the act of Satan or the Antichrist. In fact, I learned a lot about “Judge not and Ye shall not be judged” Luke 6:37

Christ went on to talk about tolerance of others, including those who did not accept Christianity as their faith.

We at MRFF are a mix of people from all faiths and non-faiths. Some of us are Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, American Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic and more. We represent the freedoms that we fight for – diversity in ideology.

Your email is filled with anger and judgement – very un-Christlike I might add. It is also clear that you are woefully misinformed. Let me elaborate…

No one, let me repeat – no one is in any way attempting to “eradicate religion from the Armed Forces” who are associated with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. We are seeking, and always have sought, a fair environment in the Armed Forces that allows members to freely exercise their right to freedom of religion without the threat and retribution of being judged as “not the right kind of Christian”.

Of course, because of the over-bearing proselytizing by extreme sects of Christianity within the Armed Forces such as adherents to the bible-based cult of Dominionism – a fundamentalist Christian sect – there are many outside of MRFF who would love to see all religion expunged from the military and the ones who are responsible for inciting that level of resistance are the very Christian extremists who feel it is necessary to brow-beat converts into following their message.

But, I am certain, from the tone of your email and the hyperbolic drama – my message to you will be like yelling into a vacuum. My mother believed as you and I learned a long time ago that the following phrase is true:

“It is easier to write on water than argue with a religious zealot”

Even though I understand that, sometimes it just gives me a sense of satisfaction to respond to the 1 in 1,000 – today I get to thank you.
