“Being Christian” a shocking novel with a basis in truth

Mikey,

I recently ran across the post on Crooks and Liars where you’re quoted about “Being Christian” by K.C. Boyd: http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/being-christian-looks-modern-day-elme
“Being Christian” literally floored me. As a long-time Christian, I can bear witness to the fact that far too many within our faith tradition have indeed gone badly astray in their spiritual journeys. While they by no means represent all (or even a majority) of Christians, such cases seem almost a tragic cliche these days

However, the prospect of powerful, charismatic church leaders experiencing a private “fall from grace” yet retaining and expanding their public influence, as the book depicts, seems all-too-real — especially when perusing the website of your organization, the MRFF.

While the title of “Being Christian” initially worried me about casting unfairly broad aspersions, the book actually depicts a universal phenomenon — one of naked hypocrisy driven by a thirst for power and the fanaticism of those who err from a truly religious perspective.

From the emails and newsletters I receive from your organization, I know you’re all too familiar with this phenomenon.  For that reason, I strongly recommend that MRFF’s supporters consider reading the book: http://www.amazon.com/Being-Christian-A–Boyd/dp/0985521708
