Greetings Bekki,

Many of us are disappointed in the comments Mikey has been making of religious freedom lately. We find it offensive and a feeble attempt on his part to gain an opportunity with an administration that is anti-Christian and anti-religious.

If wants to taken seriously by those that make a difference, he should give up the rhetoric and keep to a language that is balanced.

I am sure he realizes that this administration is about 3 years from being irrelevant which could make him as equally irrelevant when there is a more conservative leadership in charge.

Warm regards,

Dear (name withheld),

Mr. Weinstein and Ms. Miller find their time quite full with protecting the religious freedom of people of all faiths and those of no faith in the military, so have asked me to respond to your message on their behalf.

I’m not sure who the “many of us” for whom you presume to speak happen to be, but I hope they’re not all as confused as you appear to be. The work of the MRFF is robust, on-going and, given the energy generated by the groups organizing the recent ruckus, very effective. None of our work is intended to “gain an opportunity” with any administration. Mr. Weinstein, who was part of the Reagan Administration, has dedicated himself to this work and has no desire to be associated with the current administration or any other. The single focus of our work is to protect the religious freedom of those in the military so that they may enjoy their Constitutionally protected right to believe or not believe in any religious faith without being coerced or intimidated by those with a specific religious agenda.

It’s really as simple as that. Your apparent concern about what you seem to believe is an “anti-Christian and anti-religious” bent in the current administration is neither something we’re aware of nor is it something we’re concerned about.

As to your predictions about what may happen in the future, you are, of course, welcome to your view. As said, it is of no concern to us.

Best,

Mike Farrell
