Dear (name withheld),

I’ve been asked to respond to your email. That is, assuming you had the courage to use your real email address.

Are you sure you’re speaking out for a religion, i.e., Christianity, the Religion of Peace, headed by Jesus, the Prince of Peace? Sure sounds like you’re representing the Bloods or the Cryps, or some other violent gang, instead.

All the Christmas stuff was simply moved to the Chapel, where it belongs. Why does it belong there and not in the cafeteria? Because military members — all and not just the bullies, whether in the majority or not — have the right to choose whether to go to the Chapel. They can choose not to go there, and not to see religious holiday decorations there. Choice, as is “freedom of religion”, is in our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. As a nation of laws, the laws must be respected, and all the moreso by those wielding lethal weaponry on behalf of government — government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

As a member of the people, one would hope you understand this. It should have been part of your high school government class.

Sincerely,
A proud veteran and staunch MRFF supporter

Hi (name withheld),

Your message does little aside from making a mockery of Christmas and the Christmas spirit as well as most things Christian. I say “most things Christian” because you apparently consider yourself one, which is hard to fathom given the stupidity, arrogance and pugnacity you demonstrate in this message.

In the unlikely event that you’d care to understand the reality of the situation you’ve leapt into with your eyes closed and your mouth wide open, we don’t dislike your Nativity scene, your religious displays or your religion. Most of the members/supporters of the MRFF are Christian. What we oppose is the government’s promotion of one religion over another, which is against the law. We’re perfectly happy to see Nativity scenes in chapels and on chapel grounds, just not where it appears the military, an arm of the government, is endorsing a religion.

I realize that may be too fine a distinction for you to take in, but I hope someone in your church can explain it to you.

I hope you have a happy holiday.

Mike Farrell
