>Dear MRFF,

> I cannot believe that your org. would go after a young cadet over his posting of a bible verse and after it being taken down your representative wanting him to be punished. I have always been sympathetic toward your faith and the persecution of your people. I just cannot believe what I just read and what your rep. said. This in no way was an attack on your faith and the hate that generates from your org.
> actions puts a new light on your faith. I hope this is just one person speaking and that your org. is not this full of hate toward others.

Dear (name withheld),

I’ve been asked to respond on behalf of Mikey and MRFF. Mikey is busy, as usual, protecting the religious rights of our military service members and DoD civilian counterparts. There is much happening in that arena.

Imagine yourself working at, say, Toyota. You see another employee has posted religious sayings where anyone walking past his cubicle can see them. Indeed, let’s say they are on the outside wall of his cubicle, in the hallway area that customers and employees, alike, must pass through even if just to reach the publicly available restroom.

Now, imagine that those religious messages are not Christian. Imagine they are Muslim, and that they imply or even state that anyone who is not Muslim is, somehow, inferior. That Muslim co-worker of yours might just be representing his faith. Maybe he’s even learned from you that evangelizing one’s faith is something to be proud of, so he’s doing that, copying your style, or the style of some other Christian working there.

Now, imagine he’s your boss.

And, finally, imagine it’s not Toyota, after all, but an office of the federal government, in which all employees — while on duty, at work, in uniform — carry the serious responsibility of representing all Americans.

Would you want anyone representing you, by virtue of representing your/our government, to imply that your/our government supports Islam? Would you want our military doing it?

What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, and our Constitution makes that clear. That is at least one of the many well-considered reasons our founding fathers decided our government must separate itself from religious beliefs, and those who represent out government must, likewise, do so in a religiously neutral manner.

The person at the USAFA who wrote the Christian statement on his whiteboard did not do so inside his room. It was in the main hallway. His rank and position were posted next to it, giving the impression that this was his official position, officially representing the United States government through his office within its military. That is why it had to be removed.

Our military members’ individual religious beliefs — or lack thereof — are all supported by MRFF. What Mikey and MRFF fight against is the bullying position of one, using rank and religion, to inappropriately influence others. Any and all are welcome to attend chapel, seek out chaplains, and practice their religions as much as the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and other laws permit. Off duty, out of uniform, as individuals clearly representing themselves, in no way to be confused by anyone as representing any government office, they may evangelize all they want — outside their military rank and file, where they must continue to be respected for rank and thereby perceived as representing government.

I suggest you consider all this and help up defend Christians and others, alike. It might help you to know that 96% of the well over 33,000 clients of MRFF are Christian. Extremist bullies claiming to be Christian are using Christianity as their sword to slash those whom they deem to be “not Christian enough.” Those so deemed, once they realize it and the imminent danger it represents to their careers, their lives, and their families’ lives, come to Mikey for help. And that is why Mikey is too busy to respond to your email.

As one so targeted by chain of command, I apologize in advance for being as anonymous as you, but perhaps now you might understand.

Sincerely,
A staunch MRFF supporter and military veteran

The persecution complices in these letters betray fundamentally (pun intended) weak faiths. People who are secure in their beliefs don’t freak out when their toys are taken away. Your letter writers are ideological cousins to evolution- and climate change deniers.
