There is no atheist in the fox hole. Mikey Weinstein is a liberal idiot. The phrase was well noted by ex-ww2 soldiers.

Dear (name withheld),

There are loads of atheists in fox holes. Burying your head in the sand does not change the reality that exists in the world around you. You are a true representation of the Grand Old Party. Willfully ignorant and proud of it. Perhaps if your head were not so well entrenched in the hole of your choosing the light of wisdom would have an opportunity to reach you.

Cheers,

There is a reason why the bible or God’s word or Jesus Christ is the most sold book year after year throughout history. Famous atheists throughout history said that the bible would stop selling, never happened and never will. Every human being, no matter of ones denial, has an innate feeling or knowing of a God which will never go away. When in trouble, this feeling always comes out. Cheers,

Dear (name withheld),
That’s lovely that you believe in your god. Really, it is. It’s rather pitiful that you are so small minded that you cannot process the truth that there are other humans in this world that don’t share in your personal mythology. I have never had the urge to call out to a supernatural character in times of hardship. It’s never happened and I sincerely doubt it ever will. The popularity of the bible has no bearing whatsoever with its truth. If that were the case, there was once a time when the Egyptian gods were real, as they were the most popular, then the Greek, then the Roman gods, then the Christian, then Muhammad, then back to Christian….popularity doesn’t equate to truth. To confuse the two shows a debilitating level of ignorance on your part. I pity you Bruce, and I do hope that you can read this in under an hour. Don’t want to take up too much of your time away from checkers
and TVLand.

Blake, I am sorry that you are lost and choose like all liberals to believe that evolution is your answer which has already been proven wrong by the second law of thermodynamics and that liberals to date have no answer of where humans come from other than some bowl of soup and evolved from monkeys. The God of the bible has been proven by bible prophecy where things proven have come to pass and more are coming to pass. Just like liberals to believe in global warming which can also be proven wrong. They say that the polar caps are melting and that humans cause this but, I say that the polar caps are also melting on Mars and there are no humans there. In fact, they are melting but, it is due to changes on the Sun. You see, I have a masters in astrophysics and know what I am talking about. The purpose of liberalism is for government to control people through economic and religious means but, I and conservatives do not fall for such bull crap.

(name withheld)

Dear (name withheld),

Attempting to impose the second law of thermodynamics on a segment of an open system falls flat. If you truly had a masters in astrophysics you would know this. Conflating liberalism with atheism is another huge misstep for someone claiming to have an education. Atheists can be from any political party. Liberals can be from any religion. If you doubt that human efforts are causing global warming, great. You’re a member of the .01% of the scientific community that holds that position (assuming you have a degree at all). We do have an answer for where humans came from, but you lack the mental faculties to comprehend natural selection, so I needn’t waste any efforts sharing the basis of all biology with you. If the good of the bible were true, Jesus would have returned within the lifetime of his disciples as promised. He’s 2000 years late to the prophecy.

Dear (name withheld),

> I’ve been following your ridiculous unintelligent and sadly misinformed communications with Blake and I must say….you are the pathetic one. You don’t have a valid or original argument and you are stuck pandering to the viewpoint that “no atheists in foxholes” is sooooooo0 true because some idiot said it decades ago. Your rehash of pathetic current-day GOP talking points shows that in addition to your inability to form a coherent original thought you also suffer from being another brainwashed propaganda bought dominionist with no concern for facts.
>
> The atheist bend is no more liberal than the concept of evolution. Neither one has a political inclination. I am an Eisenhower conservative myself and one of my good friends, Dave Silverman (the President of American Atheists), is also a conservative. The fact that that we merely accept the facts in science as true based upon their evidentiary findings in addition to the over 150 years of stringent peer review does not make us “liberal,” although I am not one to bash people based upon their political inclinations – liberal or conservative. Maybe if you knew anything about politics you would understand that your Jesus was actually a Marxist Christ’s message and lifestyle stands far left of the left of today! But go ahead and ignore that….FACT! If you decide to actually read that link, written by my friend Dan, maybe you’ll learn something…but I’m not hopeful considering the drivel-filled rabbit-holes I’ve seen you dive into during your correspondence with Blake.

> I greatly doubt your claims of having a Masters in Astrophysics. If you do it must be from some unaccredited university such as Liberty University or Glenn Beck U… Are you aware that the Catholic church has one of the largest astrophysics labs – the Vatican Observatory – and that they unequivocally and without any doubt support the theory of evolution. So does Francis Collins, the head of the Human Genome Project, who is a Christian scientist. His work helped solidify in the minds of Christian scientists that evolution is a fact, just like had been proven for the last 150+ years. But I know….I’m being a “liberal” by pointing out the fallacies in your pathetic arguments. I’m such a bad conservative….lol
>
> As a “Foxhole Atheist” I can tell you matter-of-factly that no atheist in uniform actually cares what you believe. You can believe that the sun revolves around the earth and that the earth is flat. Idiots like do exist today and they have their numbers. You may be one of them. That’s okay. It’s been proven wrong but that doesn’t mean you can’t believe it. What we “foxhole atheists” do care about is you trying to force a fallacy as a fact, despite our protestations to be left alone. One of those fallacies is your pathetic fear-mongering quote of “no atheists in foxholes”…another is obviously your attempts at using mythology and injecting it into science, as if your opinion is somehow just as relevant as facts that say otherwise.

Paul, first of all, the phrase ” no atheist in the foxhole” was observed by many soldiers including my father, ww2 and was not just said by one person, how idiotic. Two, I received my masters from the University of South Florida, do you have a degree. Three, if anyone is unintelligent and misinformed that would be you and pathetic at that. My arguments are very valid and you have came up with nothing to the contrary. Four, I am brainwashed by nobody and I am very successful thank you. Five, show anything in the bible proving that Christ was a Marxist, I do not take opinions factual. Six, prove that he was far to the left. Seven, yea right you were in the military well, my three brothers and my father were. Seven, atheists are as sacred as anyone else and do cry out to God. Eight, now go back into the hole for which you crawled out off.

(name withheld)

Paul, by the way get your facts straight before commenting, you look stupid.

(name withheld)

Paul, As long as your boss Mikey Weinstein comes out and makes stupid nonfactual statements, you will get blow back. I hate stupidity from the craze left wing liberals.

>
> I’m sure your family that said there were “no atheists in foxholes” were the same ones that said gays weren’t serving in the military. Just as that has been obviously proven false over time so again will be your pathetic notion that there are no atheists in foxholes. In fact the chaplains in 1968 (where this phrase was made famous by a journalist) refuted the erroneous claim by a journalist that you superficially claim is so true. I’ll have that attached to the end of the email.
>
> Jesus being a Marxist? How is that a surprise to you? Have you never read the bible? In case you didn’t realize it, the hyperlink attached to that was the article which explained how that is. But since you apparently are technologically illiterate I will again attach the hyperlink HERE. Now in order to see the link you are required to take your mouse (that’s what they call the little electronic thing where you move the arrow on your screen) and highlight the hyperlink. The hyperlink is the blue HERE that is underlined above. Since you couldn’t it figure it out the first time I have hyperlinked it twice in this message. You are welcome!
>
> As far as your logical fallacy of choice, the appeal to authority, fails when held up against the evidence of ALL SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE of the last 200 years. When your opinion is based upon fact and changes in the light of facts therein then it will be an acceptable opinion and no longer be based in the mythology that rules your mind – it will suddenly become scientifically cogent. I don’t care where you got your degree from, to be honest. If you decide on your own to disregard the facts that are presented before you in place of your own facts, which hold no merit in the scientific community, then your “facts” are not in fact, facts. Factually speaking, of course.

Hi (name withheld),

Sorry to disagree with you but frankly this phrase has been debunked.

“There are no atheists in foxholes,” the old saw goes. The line, attributed to a WWII chaplain, has since been uttered countless times by grunts, chaplains, and news anchors.

But an increasingly vocal group of activists and atheist soldiers-disagrees. “It’s a denial of our contributions,” says Master Sgt. Kathleen Johnson, who founded the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers and who will be deployed to Iraq this fall. “A lot of people manage to serve without having to call on a higher power.”

Rick, first of all, if it was not an issue, why does your boss Mickey Weinstein keep talking about it and two, I learned this phrase from my father who was part of Normandy and heard many so called atheists cry out to God., My dad is not a liar.

(name withheld)

Hi (name withheld),

This is not a glaring issue but like anything that was meant as a passing observation, that phrase, although inaccurate, created a “truism” that lives on in military lore. Your father may have thought those who cried out for God were atheists but the odds are they were not.

These seemingly unimportant issues actually have weight and simply add to the volumes of misplaced pro-religious doctrines and messages in the military which must be countered in order to prevent gross Constitutional violation.

Mr. Weinstein and MRFF are currently addressing nearly forty thousand complaints from our young men and women in the armed forces as to having experienced such coercive Christian proselytizing from personnel of rank and position which is why Mr. Weinstein is so closely involved.

It is important to know that in 1971 the US Supreme Court ruled in Lemon Vs. Kurzman, that government personnel, including the Armed Forces and Public Education may not publicly favor one religion over another or religion over non-religion. So for military personnel to publicly use statements such as the atheists in foxholes one, is nonetheless a serious violation.

The whole idea is to keep the military religion neutral so no religious majority begins to control it.

I hope this helps answer some questions

Rick

Hi Richard, I like to comment on one more thing. Up to about twelve years ago, I was like you where I did not believe in God and thought I had total control of my life but, without getting into details of what made me change, I want to explain what I understand about God and some proof of why he does exist. First, I do not listen to what the world says but, what God’s word says. The world is foolish and the educated are more foolish. What they say, I count as dung. The exact thing that the Apostle Paul said of his many accomplishments which in todays society would be, many degrees. He considered his vast knowledge as dung. Bible prophecy, lets start with the state of California, broke and near bankruptcy and burning up. Al Gore does not control weather but, God does. Read Luke 21:10-12, 24-28, 33-35. Amos 4: 6-9 specifically explains California’s problem. Also, read 2Chronicles 6:26-30. God intervenes through our weather. As a matter of fact God created all of our physical laws including time, wrap your head around that one. Yes, a 1000 years of our time is one blink of God’s eye. God is beyond the universe that he created and sees all of it at once. Now, back to weather and how blessed the united states, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand is and why. God made a covenant with Abraham and God does not break any promise, that all of Abraham’s seed would be blessed, which means nations. We are all descendants of Abraham and therefore the above mentioned nations have been blessed. The United States accomplished more than any nation under 200 years. Now, after reading the above scriptures above, you will understand the weather patterns we have been having around the world which includes earthquakes, flooding, tornadoes and draught which brings on fires. If you look up government records you will find that earthquakes have picked up in frequency starting in 1960, where between the year 2000 – 2010 there was over 500 earthquakes recorded. We are a nation of hedonistic attitudes and immoral ways which is very prevalent in California, from killing babies, men having sex with men or animals, adultery and idolization of money. God is removing his blessings and protection from Satan and thereby allowing Satan to wreck havoc. California will continue to burn up and eventually bankrupt because people are so easily deceived. As far as other parts of the country, flooding, storms at greater frequency, hurricanes at unusual places such as hurricane Sandy and massive earthquakes around the world such as in Japan, Haiti , Chile and Mexico. Massive fires in California and Australia, all will continue and increase in frequency. Borrowing will continue in this country and we will fall. God says do not be a borrower but, a lender. We are very close to the end and prophecy which was written hundreds of years ago is proving all of this. In conclusion read all of Matthew 24.

Dear (name withheld),

Thanks for your reply.

I just try to keep in mind that it is men who have written what they say God said.

I don’t question your beliefs as I won’t know until death whether God exists. And of course if I’m dead, how will I know. LOL

Good talking with you.

Rick

Ye Gods and Little Fishes, the nutcase fundamentalist is really hopping out of the woodwork, isn’t he? That aside, no picking on TV Land! Some of us non-believers also very much enjoy “Hot In Cleveland”, thank you very much. ;)

As for said fundamentalist, I don’t see where anyone here accused your father of lying. I’m sure he did hear avowed atheists calling on God at Normandy, but you also have to realize that ‘God’, as such, has entered the vernacular of the English language and is often used in expletives whether the speaker believes in God, any God, or not. I’m very grateful for your family’s service in the military, especially your Dad. I was lucky to not have been shot at during my Army career and I have the utmost respect for the service of those who went through things like Normandy, as well as firefights, pitched battles, bombardments and bombings in more recent conflicts.

You, however, are another matter. You’ve come onto a website dedicated to protecting the religious freedoms of those who defend our country in order to try to shove your weight around and push your religion off onto others. Pretty despicable behavior. And, geez, for someone who purports to have an advanced degree, your writing ability is exceedingly lacking. Take yourself back to your little security blanket of religion so you can hide under it during these ‘end times’ and leave the rest of us alone. Hopefully, I won’t see any more from you the next time I open up an email newsletter from MRFF.

Re Atheists in Foxholes – as an atheist, I like to think that mere mortal fear would not cause me to convert – only evidence should suffice – but I don’t think of such conversions as moral failings.
However, the idea shows how idiotic Christians can get in defense of their faith. AiF is just a spin on Pascal’s wager, which moves right past the idea that, just maybe, God actually exists, to “won’t you feel stupid waking up in Hell after you die”. Pascal may have been a scientific genius, but his wager is a cosmic affront to his God. If I were God, I’d be mortified to have such fair-weather followers.

    (a) Yes, there are Atheists in foxholes – always have been, always will be. Anybody who doubts it should just do a quick search for HANS KASTEN BERGA, study what comes up, and get educated.
    (b) Bringing up the Second Law of Thermodynamics, again! Yes, entropy — the tendency of the universe to make an ash of itself. Besides implications of a loving, almighty doG destroying his own ‘creation’, there is the rather well established fact of NEGATIVE ENTROPY (a.k.a. negentropy and many fancy synonyms) which simply put means that anything alive is a temporary suspension of entropy. Entropy resumes upon death – poof!

If you believe the Lord will protect you in battle, then forsaken your rifle, pistol, motar support, air support, artillery support, naval gunfire support, your hand grenades, bayonet, tanks, flamethrowers, etc, and just stand up to the enemy and proclaim that God will protect you and see what happens to you,
