Mikey “Godless” Weinstein,

As a Gold Star mother I am disgusted to think that you would actually complain about and that the Department of  Defense would then even consider not allowing Bible verses on our military’s dog tags.

My son gave his life for his country. He believed in freedom…including religious freedom.

How dare you demand anything you worthless piece of shit.

Response from MRFF Founder and President Mikey Weinstein

Before you start calling people “worthless piece(s) of shit“, ma’am, you may want to actually check out the facts first… Because you’re getting the wrong facts… The article below may be helpful… We are not talking about genuine government issue dogtags here… These are souvenir dog tags manufactured by a for-profit Christian company that has violated its DOD license by advocating On behalf of a particular religious faith (christianity) thereby breaking its contract with the Pentagon not to use their military department logos in the furtherance of their sectarian and Partisan religious perspective… I am happy to accept an apology now… I’m sorry for the loss of your son and thank you for the sacrifice for this great nation… Respectfully, Mikey Weinstein… Founder and president, Military Religious Freedom Foundation…

Dear Ms. (name withheld),
I hope, given Mikey’s response, that you have a better understanding of the situation we’re dealing with. We all, of course, honor your son’s service and rue his loss. Such heartbreak is simply beyond our ability to imagine.
As was the case with your son, Ms. (name withheld), we all love freedom and we are dedicated to protecting religious freedom. There are, unfortunately, those with their own agenda who continue to mischaracterize our work, but please understand they are wrong, intentionally so, and we will continue to ensure that every woman and man in uniform will have their freedom of choice, whether religious or non-religious, protected by the MRFF.
Best to you.
Mike Farrell
