For those who fully appreciate the protections offered by the separation of church and state, 2013 has been a year like no other. While we at MRFF can rightly be proud of our continued streak of Constitutional victories, the dangers to the religious civil rights of our honorable servicemembers have reached an unprecedented scale.

Die-hard opponents of the U.S. Constitution, religious pluralism, and religious tolerance have organized an alliance comprised of figures that wield significant influence within the media, the commanding ranks of the Pentagon, and all three branches of the American government. In a bizarre homage to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), they’ve called themselves the "Restore Military Religious Freedom" Coalition, or “RMRF.”

In the words of MRFF Thomas Jefferson Award recipient, Pulitzer Prize winner, and close friend Chris Hedges:

Their ideology... calls for the eradication of social "deviants," beginning with gay men and lesbians, whose sexual orientation, those in the movement say, is a curse and an illness, contaminating the American family and the country.
...Believers, especially now, are called to a perpetual state of war with the "secular humanist" state. The march, they believe, is irreversible. Global war, even nuclear war, is the joyful harbinger of the Second Coming. And leading the avenging armies is an angry, violent Messiah who dooms billions of apostates to death.

This alliance of fundamentalist Christian extremists and narrow-minded bigots has dubbed our civil rights organization a "Clear and Present Danger" to their twisted conception of "religious liberty," and have designated me Public Enemy #1.

Media misinformation outlets (Fox News’ Todd Starnes, breitbart.com, and other members of the Dominionist press) have pulled out all the stops in their combined assault on TRUE religious liberty – freedom of, as well as from, religious faith – in the U.S. military.

We urgently need the help of supporters like you to halt this onslaught of fervent Christian extremist sedition.

We at the Military Religious Freedom Foundation have been almost alone in the defense of our brave servicemen and servicewomen who have borne the brunt of the unholy predations of this “Christian Taliban.”

Indeed, our client base of over 35,000 aggrieved sailors, soldiers, marines, airmen, cadets, midshipmen, veterans, and civilian defense personnel can attest to the valuable services MRFF has selflessly offered. Every last penny donated to our organization has been used as a weapon to fight back against the encroaching "Christian Jihadists" who've infected our armed forces.

While our fearlessly aggressive defense of the U.S. Constitution has earned us vociferous opposition, we’ve also earned some hard-won, invaluable allies along the way:

• The Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy (President of Interfaith Alliance), the CA Council of Churches IMPACT (an organization comprised of 5,500 Protestant congregations with over 1.5 million members from mainstream Protestant denominations), Americans United for Separation of Church and State, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and the Columbus Jewish Foundation, among numerous others, have all expressed their unshakeable solidarity with our foundation’s cause.

• Throughout 2013, some very notable and capable voices joined our foundation Board and Advisory Board. These patriotic and passionate figures include former Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff, Lawrence Wilkerson, the highly-decorated retired U.S. Army Chaplain (Lt. Col.) and Reverend Dr. Jonathan J. Etterbeek, and Major William E. Barker, USMC (ret.) , a local hero here in Albuquerque.

MRFF has had a tremendous history of success combating the tremendously well-financed Dominionist organizations seeking to turn the U.S. Military into a missionary force. From social media to the conventional press, our advocacy has rattled our foes and given hope to our supporters.
