Backward Christian soldiers

If you heard it said that America’s military was being taken over by agents of apocalyptic Christianity, you might think it the fiction of some leftwing alarmist. But what if it came from a man who said, “I never thought, coming from a conservative military Republican family filled with [US Air Force] Academy graduates and people that have been in so much combat, that at this point in my life, after being a White House lawyer, a lawyer for a Texas billionaire, a businessman, that I’d suddenly become this political activist”?

A Question of Faith

Competent leadership is fundamental to military effectiveness. Although there are countless definitions of leadership, the simple truth is that leadership is merely influencing others to act in concert toward achieving a goal that they might not have achieved on their own. Congress's Bullying Pulpit

As a child, I went to a small school in rural Alabama near an Army post where my father was stationed. It was a very Christian town, and our teacher was "born again."

By age 11 I had become a nonbeliever. My father was in the Army and had fought in World War II and Korea; I concluded quickly that no loving God could have allowed those atrocities to be committed.

Watchdogs Decry Chaplain's Book

By regulation and custom, military chaplains are required to serve Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen of all faiths.

But some of the writings of Lt. Cmdr. Brian K. Waite, currently chaplain for the Naval Submarine Support Center in Norfolk, Va., has a watchdog group wondering how he can deal honestly and professionally with Muslims, who, he argued in a 2002 book, Islam Uncovered, "embrace a religion that is hostile to peace-loving Christians, Jews, and anybody that does not conform to [their] beliefs.

Mikey Weinstein

Greetings MRFF Supporters!

Happy 2008,
MRFF Supporters!

As we begin our third year of operation, we want to thank you for helping to make 2007 so successful. Last year we continued to show those we're fighting against that we're a force to be reckoned with.

We have even bigger plans for MRFF in 2008, from expanding our legal challenges in federal court to increasing our advocacy through speaking engagements and ever-broadening media exposure.

The Foundation is off to a great start already, as you can see by checking out the numerous stories included in this newsletter. We will continue to keep you up to date as we continue advocating and fighting for our honorable Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Veterans!

Your Eternal Ally,
Mikey
