Mikey,
Foxman and the ADL have to decide if they have the courage of their convictions, or if they're willing to continue to sell both their constituents and supporters down the river in order to maintain their friendship with the Christian Evangelical Community who would, by the way, sell the ADL down the river at the drop of a hat....and in fact, are doing so already. The Evangelical Community only supports Israel out of selfish reasons - they seek only to use "the Jews" to achieve their twisted goals....and, in fact, they are already achieving their goals - already, they have been given access to nearly every Jewish home via evangelizing Christian cable TV programming, despite Israeli law making proselytizing illegal in Israel....and, I won't even address their twisting messianic fantasies! Evangelicals will never respect Jews or any other non-Christians, nor will they ever respect our rights; their pervasive philosophy of supersessionism extends well beyond their views regarding the relationship between the Jewish and Christian faiths, they believe that Christian faith also supersedes the Constitution of the United States - these ridiculous human beings will never rest until they achieve power over everyone and everything and thus have the ability to inflict and impose their will on everyone and everything. They will never stop - NEVER.
This means that the rest of us must always, ALWAYS be vigilant and ready to fight back against their endless attacks on our liberty, our civil rights, our personal freedom, our freedom to choose our own faith or no faith at all, our happiness and very way of life. The ADL and every other freedom loving organization has to realize that this fight will never be over - much like the supposed war on terrorism (and, in fact and in reality, this is just another form of domestic terrorism) - terrorism will sadly always be a factor in this world - so too, as long is there is at least one Evangelical Christian in this world, we must face the fact that this fight will never end. The idea (that the rest of us see clearly as both inane and deadly) that Jesus gave the Christian Church the authority and right to not only spread its poison throughout the world, but to forcefully inflict it on everyone else is a central tenant of these folks belief systems - trust me, I grew up among these people....these people, unfortunately, also include one of my siblings and my parents! They will never stop their attacks on our freedoms, and they will never cease to claim they are justified because they are the victims...in their own twisted minds they believe that when we seek to defend our own personal rights, we are attacking theirs.....so, out of one side of their mouths they attack us, and out of the other they cry bloody murder that they're being attacked. Don't let the ridiculousness of their acts, their posturing and their message fool you - these folks are organized, determined, and just like al Qaeda, willing to die for their cause. We must never under estimate our enemy....and to think that anyone could accomplish any good by trying to negotiate, placate or compromise with them, is pure folly.
The ADL is only furthering the cause of those who seek to destroy the very constituents and supporters of the ADL by trying to placate them, by making excuses, by say - "we don't like this person's approach" or "we don't like your style"....in a battle there are many role players - some engage in psychological warfare, some fly jets and drop smart bombs, some launch Tomahawk missiles, and someone is assigned the role of foisting a 50 caliber machine gun up a hill and firing it at the enemy - not unlike the old days when someone had to wield the bludgeon. Well, in this fight, we don't have the money yet to buy jets and smart bombs, and those who do are still hanging out on the sidelines and complaining that those of us who have already joined the battle are making a mess firing our 50 calibers, but that's what we've got, and we're not afraid to get bloody because someone sure as hell has got to get in this fight. And I don't give a damn if we're only left with sticks and stones - the only way I'm leaving the battlefield is when they've literally killed me and someone has to drag my sorry ass off of it. Because until I take my last breath, Mikey, I am standing right next to you, glad to lug my 50 caliber up any hill you tell me to. You're the field general - the only general so far with the balls to get in the fight, and I'm standing by you, Mikey - I'm standing by you regardless of what anyone says or does - I'm standing by you until the day I die!

Mikey,
I am just so often reminded of Patton when I think of you. During WWII, when the Allies needed someone to go in and fix a problem, they called on Patton. When the North Africa campaign was going badly - they brought in Patton. The move was widely criticized because of Patton's notorious gruff nature and people considered him way too rough around the edges; but the decision was a master stroke. Not only did he almost single-handedly rescue the campaign from disaster, but his amazingly sharp intellect and fluence of in French was put to good use in Morocco in helping to establish a successful post-Nazi government. And later, when he was given the Third Army, he was brought into the European Campaign after the D-Day invasion got terribly bogged down. Once again he succeeded beyond everyone's wildest expectations, routing the Germans all the way to Berlin. And let's not forget his brilliant move to break the back of the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge (my grandfather was one of the soldiers rescued there - out of his company of 120 men, he was only one of two who survived)
Mikey, I remember my grandfather speaking of Patton with something like adoration. My grandfather almost never spoke of the war, which left him forever damaged; but he had the greatest respect for Patton. Now today we have groups like the ADL and some within the ACLU, as you will remember, who apparently justify their failure to join the battle by asserting they don't like your tactics. Well, damn them! You at least have the courage of your convictions and when others fail to act, you're busy getting the job done. I've seen more than enough e-mails from harried and harassed servicemen/women to know that when others are making excuses, you're busy giving real hope to our servicemen/women and veterans. If they want us to do something more, something in addition or besides what we're doing, let them roll up their sleeves and join the fight. If they pitch in financially, who knows, maybe we will even be able to afford a smart bomb or two.
