VOLUNTEER JOB OPPORTUNITY

 

POSITION:             Community Coordinator (locations nationwide)

REPORTS TO:     Director of Volunteers & Interns (DVI)

SUPERVISES:        Volunteers and/or Interns as assigned

HOURS:                   Flexible; estimated 10-15 hrs/week

STATUS:                  This is a Volunteer Position (Estimated In-Kind Value of Position = $21,750)

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Community Coordinator is responsible for representing the mission and goals of the MRFF at the community level to potential clients/donors, government agencies, other charities/organizations (both allied & adversarial) and the general public.

 

The purpose of this position is to increase the visibility and fundraising at, the community level, enhancing MRFF’s ability to better fulfill its mission.

 

Success in this position will ultimately instill clients/donors/supporters with a deeper engagement and commitment to the mission of protecting members of the U.S. Military and civilian DoD employees from unconstitutional religious (any religion) influence in relation to their training, assignment, advancement and retention and to prevent mandatory participation in religious practices (i.e. compulsory prayers among assembled personnel).

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

Core Functions

•  Coordinate placement and maintenance of MRFF Materials in Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) in coordination with DVIP and in compliance with MEPCOM Policy Memorandum 11-2 (as amended)

•  Represent MRFF at Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Kickoff Events.  These events usually involve setup/attendance/breakdown of an information booth or table for varying amounts of time once each year.  However, CFC Kickoff events may also require public speaking at Charity Speaker Events and Roundtables.

•  Coordinate with MRFF Director of Volunteers & Interns to determine  demand for services and fundraising opportunities in your community.

•  Identify, plan, organize and manage miscellaneous fundraising activities benefitting MRFF clients in your community.

 

Organizational Assistance

•  Represent the organization in a professional manner to potential clients/donors/supporters and other public/private profit and non-profit organizations.

•  Direct the execution of an effective on-line and social media presence for MRFF activities on a local level.

•  Periodically assist in organization wide fundraising and social media events on an as-needed basis.

 

Leadership of Other Community Volunteers or Interns

•  Create a positive environment where two-way communication and strong trust are established.

•  Ensure training on the skills necessary for success.

•  Provide professional and personal growth opportunities as appropriate.

 

Reporting

•  Report accurately and in a timely manner on all pertinent (positive & negative) MEPS, CFC, fundraising, and social media activities related to MRFF in the designated community.

•  Efficiently develop and manage effective documentation process, scheduling and pertinent data collection .

•  Have a “thick skin” and ability to just walk away or otherwise defuse a situation when being “baited” with insults or lies about you or MRFF’s mission.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Highly organized and able to work alone in most situations.

•  Ability to prioritize big picture ideas and execute into tangible actions.

•  Excellent written, oral and social media communication skills.

•  Demonstrated ability to present effective and compelling messages to individuals, groups and the public.

•  Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals in politically and emotionally charged environment.

•  Ability to perform professionally in both receptive and adversarial situations/environments.

•  Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.

•  Reside within 2 hours driving distance of designated community/location.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

•  Ability to work on a computer and phone from a home office situation.

•  Ability to travel short distances (2hr drive time max).

•  Ability to lift and transport 50 lbs.

•  Ability to stand/sit in one location periodically for an extended amount of time.
