Attention MRFF:

Do Not tell me you are preserving anything, or that I am capitalizing on an oppurtunity, you gotta stand up for something and your attitude, live and let live, I hope will be the end of you. You aren’t helping anyone! Oh and by the way it may not be a holy war for you but try asking a scumbag muslim from al qaeda what it means to him! You ARE A MORON!!!!!

Rick Baker’s Response:

Dear (name withheld),

Thank you for your E-mail.

My name is Rick Baker and I’m a regional coordinator for MRFF.  Mrs. Weinstein, our development director  is quite busy right now and unable to respond to you. But I did want you to get the courtesy of a reply.

Your anger and fear are misplaced. There is a desperation in your communication. May I suggest that you take a moment and let me try to ease your mind about MRFF and our role in assisting the many young military men  and women in the armed forces who find themselves the victims of coercive and command centered Christian proselytizing?

MRFF stands for religious freedom. It is not our goal to stifle any legitimate religion which is practiced under constitutional provision.  However, a rather militant Christian movement known as “Dominion Christianity”, a rather caustic form of Protestant Evangelism has been infiltrating all branches of the armed forces and our service academies.  You may have heard about the investigations at the US Air Force Academy  and  the steps taken there to insure that no cadets would have to endure the incessant and oppressive religious environment.

At this moment MRFF is dealing with over 16,000 client cases from  military complainants  the subject of which is coercive religious proselytizing and the specter of command influence in both on and off duty religious matters.

I assume you are a Christian but I am sure that whatever belief system in which you engage  is  voluntary and you are not required to attend  meetings, prayer sessions, church services or other religious ceremonies or rites if you are not so inclined.

That’s the main thrust of MRFF. No Soldier, Airman, Sailor, Marine, Coast Guard, National Guard Trooper, Armed Forces  Reservist or service academy cadet  will  have to submit to undesirable religious influence from superiors or other internal or external  forces.

I must reiterate that what MRFF is preserving is religious freedom. I’m certain you are familiar with  the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. One may not be required to participate in any religious endeavor involuntarily.  Many of our clients have been ordered to attend Christian  services or meetings or criticized for not doing so by those to whom they are subordinate. They have also been  required to review Christian materials that are geared to conversion or upgrading to a more subservient religious position. This is an illegal and unconstitutional act.

At this time we have assisted a number  of our young troops to regain their individual belief systems in the military and have done so with the most careful and considerate processes so as not to disturb the flow of accepted majority religious belief.

The term “live and let live” is a double edged sword in which some religious beliefs call for all to live in their particular frame of reference.   So Islam might, for instance require you to live as they dictate and also to let live as they dictate. The missing operative  word here is freedom to do otherwise.

I can’t argue that there have not been “holy wars” but frankly the term “holy” is in the mind of the perpetrator.  It is not a description but rather an excuse.  Just as God has been used as an excuse for many dark purposes.

I am not sure all Muslims are scum bags.  Many are for sure. But  you and I have been raised not to judge others by their nomenclature but rather by their actions.

If there is only one good Muslim  than we would be wrong to condemn them all. Just as if there were only one good Christian and we condemned them all.

I had some similar fears  to yours when I was shipped to Vietnam. I was sure that I would find the very epitome of evil there and girded my loins for battle. Instead  I found human beings, politically misled but with all the human emotions and love for family and friends that I had.  What a shock to determine that they were just me in a different uniform.

I would like you , as a concerned person to visit  our web site at  militaryreligiousfreedom.com  and see what it is we are trying to accomplish.  Many other confused people  have and decided to join us in our fight to protect our young men and women. Your help would be appreciated and would mean a great deal to those who are  this very day in the grasp of unwanted religious  advances.

Also let me say that Mrs. Weinstein, to whom you addressed  your E-mail, is the wife of Mikey Weinstein, the founder and president of MRFF. She is a loving mother and wife and deserves our respect. She is a bright, educated and tolerant woman who has endured death threats to her and her children, damage to her home and an illness generated by fear and truly is not deserving  of the term “moron.”    You wouldn’t call your Mom a       moron would you?

Let us help you understand the  awful problems America is facing. You are important to us.

Rick Baker
