Thanks for the great work you’re doing. I wish you had been around back in the ’60s when I served. The discrimination wasn’t so pervasive back then as the draft brought in a more diverse group of troops than does the all-volunteer military of today.
A year or so ago, I was a patient at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. I was there for a minor surgical procedure. As I was being wheeled toward the operating room on a gurney, an older gentleman approached, said “Thanks for your Service,” and handed me a card. I didn’t really get a good look at him but I did read the card. It simply read:
Thank you for your service and dedication to our country.
Wow! It is difficult to explain how good I felt to get that small token of appreciation. When I returned home to South Dakota, I looked up the site that provides the cards. I ordered a stack of them and give them out to veterans and service men and woman I encounter. More than one has come close to tears.
The site’s founder says he won’t be happy until every veteran and current member of the military has at least one card. There are also cards for family members who also serve in a very special way.

I’ve recently learned about your site and the work you do. It immediately occurred to me that all the members of our armed forces should be made aware of the MRFF and that making similar cards available would help to spread the message.
I hope you will consider creating and offering such cards on your website. I assure you I will be at the head of the line to place my order. I regret that my disability pension does not allow me to become a member of MRFF but I will send a modest donation before the month is over. Thank you.
Sincerely,
