As a service member in the United States military who happens to be Muslim I am so thankful that Mikey Weinstein has stood up and condemned the potential “burn a Quran day”. Countless other service members as well as myself who happen to be Muslim are so thankful that there is an organization standing up to this disgusting potential act in the state of Florida. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation continues to stand up in the face of injustice and wrong in today’s world. As a proud service member and Muslim I say THANK YOU MRFF! Through this intense struggle of islamaphobia that we service members are going through, we know that MRFF is going to be there for us and ready to help if needed. Thank you so much!
United States Army Specialist, Zachari Klawonn.

My donation is related to the CNN article that I saw on the web and the video of Anderson Cooper interviewing the minister. I chose to peacefully protest this planned event by making a donation to your organization and challenged my FB friends if they feel enraged as I, to find a way to make their feelings known in a peaceful way. The Ethic of Reciprocity — often called the Golden Rule in Christianity — simply states that we are to treat other people as we would wish to be treated ourselves. This is a belief in the thirteen largest world religions to include Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, Bahai Faith, Confucianism, Native Spirituality, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, Unitarianism, Christianity AND ISLAM. “Not one of you truly believes until you wish for others what you wish for yourself.” The Prophet Muhammad, Hadithj

Frankly, I don’t see how donating Qu’rans is consistent with the objectives of MRFF which is suppose to be protecting our troops from religious coercion or proselytizing by those in positions of authority within the military. How is sending Qur’ans to the Afgan military going to be viewed by the service members in their military who may be of other faiths or atheists? How is it going to be viewed by members of our own military who are not Muslim? How is it protecting our military service members from religious proselytizing? This seems way of base. Mikey, please help me understand your rationale for doing this under the auspices of MRFF. I am a donor to MRFF, but this has really made me reconsider whether or not MRFF is using my money wisely. Maybe I don’t understand the true objectives of MRFF. Please clarify. Publicity seeking acts like burning Qur’ans, Bibles, or whatever should be ignored both by the media and MRFF. There are lots of loony people in the world and they don’t deserve an international stage to further their wacky views.
