Dear Mr. Weinstein,

Just wanted to give you an update regarding the Airman/Soldier Bibles (with the respective official service seal on the cover) being carried at the (USAF installation name withheld) Air Force Base BX. Just literally hours after I made initial contact with the MRFF a very senior general officer contacted me regarding this issue and promised to look into it. At that point he promised he would do what he could to get these Bibles removed from the shelves of the BX. Satisfied with his sincerity I consider the matter closed. However, today at of the blue I received a followup call from the general saying the issue had been elevated to the Department of Defense General Counsel’s Office to investigate why the official service seals of the USAF, U.S. Army, Navy and Marines Corps were on these Bibles to begin with. Needless to say this was a very pleasant surprise.

I want to thank you and the Foundation for your efforts. As an active duty Air Force Judge Advocate I have very little doubt that this outcome is far different than anything I could have hoped for going through other official USAF complaint channels. As an Air Force officer (and a lawyer) it is very rare that I personally feel intimidated about making sure my Constitutional civil rights rights are unimpeded as I clearly did on this occasion. However, I know that the situation is far different for my far more vulnerable junior enlisted brothers and sisters in the U.S. military that may be deprived of their Constitutional rights. Your work, and the work of the MRFF, to give a voice to the powerless is so very much appreciated and is truly invaluable.

With my Greatest Respect to you and all MRFF staff and supporters,

(USAF Officer’s/JAG’s name, rank, military unit and military installation withheld)
