Dear MRFF:

Thanks so much for making me aware of this amazingly worthwhile charity. I’ll be donating to them in a BIG way this Christmas.
God Bless,

Dear (name withheld):

Mr. Weinstein asked me to reply to your email since we are a large Christian organization fully in support of MRFF’s work on behalf of all Americans.

We are delighted you will act as an individual in supporting the religious charity of your choice. That is perfect!

That now is what the Cadets are doing as well – the gift program is going forward but without any military/Air Force official sanction. To do the latter does favor one religion over another, one denomination, one sect all of which is a totally illegitimate use of our tax dollars.

No one has curtailed religion. MRFF has, however, rightly curtailed the military from sanctioning any one religious organization over others. The Marines have found a way for decades to do this with “Toys for Tots” a helpful secular effort that gives children presents at Christmas time. The Air Force can and now is doing a version of this having the Cadets act as you are – as private individuals, not an authorized part of USAFA.

We appreciate your conviction, your acts as a private individual, and wish you all the blessings of Christmas and a very happy new year.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Sholes
