I am always the first to rebuff any attempts to subdue the combat actions of our Marines. “They were placed in such serious, sometimes unanswerable situations especially when it gets pretty damned combat deadly, (Korea & combat Nam Marine here) but… this time, no alibi from me. I do not see the U S Army deprecating we Sioux who killed quite a few of them for two decades under Chief Red Cloud and later Crazy Horse at Tongue River and the Big Horn. We were bigger, had combat oriented horses, the Winchester repeater and both hands to aim with- plus damn good Chiefs. The Cavalry had only one hand to aim their single shot Sharps that jammed on the 2nd round on a hot day and gun shy horses. Buffalo hunting takes the gunshyness out of a horse.
