Profound Admiration

I have the profoundest admiration for MRFF and its director, the incomparable Mike Weinstein. Your organization has an indispensable role in protecting our constitutional and religious liberty from the threat posed by fundamentalist Christianity, a threat accentuated by the unholy alliance between religious fundamentalism and political power.

I am a dedicated Christian myself, and I am deeply dismayed that my religion, which includes a long and honorable tradition of liberal and humanist teaching, has been commandeered by those who have distorted my religion beyond recognition.

I am thankful that MRFF has taken a stand against the American Family Association (AFA) for its despicable attacks on Islam and military personnel who are members of that noble faith. The idea that any religious test would be required for serving in the U.S. military is a direct violation of Article VI, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution.

I am happy that MRFF has been nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize. Perhaps the Nobel committee will honor MRFF with the 2012 prize. It would be gratifying to see Mr. Weinstein travel to Oslo to accept this prestigious award.

I am looking forward to reading Mr. Weinstein’s latest book. Keep up the good work, and continue to fight the good fight.
