Dear (name withheld),

Thank you for taking the time to contact MRFF. Mikey has read your email and asked me to respond.

Although you may not care what West and Savage have to say, MRFF must respond to these constant and repetitive attacks for very obvious and logical reasons:

Proof by assertion, sometimes informally referred to as proof by repeated assertion, is an informal fallacy in which a proposition is repeatedly restated regardless of contradiction. Sometimes, this may be repeated until challenges dry up, at which point it is asserted as fact due to its not being contradicted (argumentum ad nauseam). In other cases, its repetition may be cited as evidence of its truth, in a variant of the appeal to authority or appeal to belief fallacies.
This fallacy is sometimes used as a form of rhetoric by politicians, or during a debate as a filibuster. In its extreme form, it can also be a form of brainwashing. Modern politics contains many examples of proof by assertions. This practice can be observed in the use of political slogans, and the distribution of “talking points”, which are collections of short phrases that are issued to members of modern political parties for recitation to achieve maximum message repetition.

MRFF has forced this national discussion on religious influence in the U.S. Military through its repeated successes in protecting our service members from unconstitutional religious influence in relation to their training, assignment, advancement and retention. We are not about to allow our success on behalf of our clients to fall victim to this practice of proof by assertion used by so many nefarious individuals throughout history.

At the risk of falling victim to Godwin’s Law, the effectiveness of proof by assertion was discussed and strongly supported in Vol. 1, Ch. 6 of Mein Kampf in 1939:

Propaganda must be limited to a few simple themes and these must be represented again and again. Here, as in innumerable other cases, perseverance is the first and most important condition of success…. Its chief function is to convince the masses, whose slowness of understanding needs to be given time in order that they may absorb information; and only constant repetition will finally succeed in imprinting an idea on the memory of the crowd.

All propaganda must be presented in a popular form and must fix its intellectual level so as not to be above the heads of the least intellectual of those to whom it is directed. Thus its purely intellectual level will have to be that of the lowest mental common nominator among the public it is desired to reach.

MRFF cannot allow the propaganda of the political right wing, fundamentalists and dominionists to go unchallenged. Ignoring it is simply not an option and any help you can give us, financial or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Andy Kasehagen
