Religious Freedom

Dear MRFF,

I hope you will pass this on to whoever runs this awful organization. The name needs to be changed because this is not about religious freedom at all. It’s about trashing Christians and preventing people to honor or pray to God which we have every right to do! This is no better than the ACLU both of which I am very sure will be spending eternity in hell. You see I am not military but I am a Christian and when these people in the military are defending our rights to freedom, you are trying to take it away. Also may of these people risk their lives every day and need and want to make peace with God so they can spend eternity in heaven. This is another bunch of crap from Obama who should have been impeached a long time ago. I wasn’t stupid enough to vote for him. I really hope to see you all down on bended knee before Christ when he comes back. You may not think he is but I am sure of it. What if you are wrong? If I am wrong nothing will happen other than disappointment. But if you are wrong well it’s going to be too late then and rightly so. Shame on this organization for taking away our rights to our faith. The constitution says freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. Things will change some after Obama is out which won’t be soon enough because everyone is pretty much sick of him and his lies so hopefully you will all be out of a job.

Dear (name withheld),

Mikey has received your message and has asked me to respond.

I do hope that you aren’t having any trouble praying or honoring your God. One of the more interesting sermons I heard while a young man in church was on the topic of prayer. My pastor told us that we could pray anywhere at anytime and nobody could stop us! All we had to do was think about what we wanted to tell the big man up stairs, and he would hear it. I thought that was a pretty cool thing at the time. While I am no longer religious, I am often vexed by complaints of people claiming that someone is stopping them from praying. Are you being given mind altering drugs? Is someone playing music so loudly that you cannot control your thoughts? Has a government organization developed a prayer blocking device that prevents your God from hearing you call out to him from within? I really would like to know.

On the other hand, I have often heard complaints that putting an end to forced participation in religious ceremonies is a problem. Can you not pray unless you are forcing everyone around to you to participate in your religion? Is there a multiplicative effect during group prayer which allows the already omniscient God a level of super omniscience? This throws me off again because I don’t understand how an all-knowing God could somehow know more under one circumstance than another. Maybe someone could conduct an experiment on prayer to see how powerful it is when conducted in groups or alone…like this one! (spoiler alert: there’s no difference whatsoever)

Another failure in your message is your invention of a relationship between Obama and the MRFF. In reality, there is precisely none. I actually concur that there are many ways in which Obama could serve us better. I even gave a short speech on the topic a few months ago if you’d care to watch. The audio isn’t the best, but if you turn it up I’m sure you’ll be able to get the gist of it.

You’ve asked a silly question in your e-mail that has been asked more times than it deserves. The “what if you’re wrong about Jesus” question is commonly referred to as Pascal’s Wager. In response, I’d like to ask you a question. What if you’re wrong about Vishnu, Buddah, Mohammed, Thor, Zeus, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Ba,
Amen-Ra, Aegir, Aclla, Hoa-Tapu, Darago, Wananikwe, Xibalba, Apollo, Caliope, Agrios, Re, Sakhmet, Alkaia, Geryon, Haides, Hera, Cerberus, Argus, Artemis, Athena, Bacchus, Anubis, Aphrodite, Agni, Chronos, Fenrir, Hercules, Odin….etc? Because if you are you’ll end up spending an eternity in tuonela or the Netherworld or Uffern or Peklo or manala or Gimokodan or Kalichi or Naraka or Hetgwauge or Kuzimu or Shobari Waka or Metnal or Tartarus or….you get the picture, right?

There are thousands of gods that you do not believe in with thousands of corresponding versions of hell. You don’t believe in any of those gods and you don’t fear their versions of damnation. In that sense you are already an atheist thousands of times over. The only difference is I disbelieve in one more god than you.

Cheers,

If this is the ignorance in the world now it’s no wonder there are shootings in schools, bullying out of control, suicides at an all time high. The world was not like this just 40 years ago. You are completely wrong about prayer and what is accomplished through it and i am not religious. It’s about relationship not religion. As far as all the other gods you mentioned Christ’s word is factual. There has been much research to back it up. Also Jesus is only wanting to love and give us an opportunity to spend eternity in a place so fantastic and unimaginable. Why are you and others like you so threatened by that. You are completely right that we don’t need to defend God. He’s a big God. But you have no right to take away nativity scenes, keep our military from praying out loud or to themselves. I don’t see you attacking muslims who’s message is one of hate and murder. Oh and by the way they hate atheists as much as christians and would end your life without a second thought. I am sick of atheists and other religions voicing their opinions and spewing nothing but hatred for christians. Therein lies the problem. Everyone is spouting tolerance which isn’t even used properly. But the intolerance is directed at christians. If i were an athiest and i knew all that followed was death and pretty much my life would be meaningless, devoid of hope, what would motivate me to do anything. I’d just be waiting to die. I have no doubt, none at all that God is real and it’s sad that so many people will find out the hard way cause they are so full of pride and rebellion.

Thanks for your response cause at least i know someone saw my email.

Dear (name withheld),

What ignorance are you referring to that is translating into such serious crimes as school shootings and bullying? Once again, there is very real dissonance between the facts at hand and your conjecture. If you would propose that being irreligious increases the probability of criminal behavior, why is it that a disproportionately small portion of our prison population identifies as atheist? Even prominent Christian Apologists acknowledge the absurdity of the argument that irreligion is a cause for immorality. There has been much research to back it up. Real research. Not just an allusion to a self gratifying assumption.

As far as the world not being like it was just 40 years ago, you’re right! The world is significantly better than it ever has been! Just take a look at this wonderful news. What has happened to you is an unfortunate side effect of advancing technology. With improvements of technology, public access to information has steeply increased as well. Thanks to the internet, far fewer gruesome crimes miss being paraded across our monitors. This is why you wrongly believe that shootings and rampant bullying are worse than they have been in the past. Sadly, you are right about suicide rates. Perhaps the bleak perspectives of people claiming the world is spiraling out of control contributes to that trend. After all, negativity is contagious.

You seem to think that all Muslims are murderous terrorists in training. I suppose you get your information from the extensive time you’ve spent in Muslim communities getting to know them on a personal basis. No? Well then, let me help alleviate you of your ignorance once again. Forgive my French, but your misinformed perspective is absolute bullshit, totally dishonest, and rife among the bigoted slime we deal with on a regular basis. To claim that all Muslims are hate filled murderers is tantamount to claiming that all Christians emulate the Westboro Baptist Church or Christian Terrorist Anders Breivik. I don’t think you are a murderer for ascribing to the same religion as these other terrorists, and I would hope you could have the clarity of thought to realize that the probability of a Muslim being such is just as remote. Your Bible requires you to kill me on sight for being an unbeliever, murder your children if they are disobedient, kill anyone that doesn’t listen to their priest, slaughter those that choose another faith, kill women for having sex before marriage, and so much more. So please, if you think Islam is a religion of hate, read the Bible and realize how many passages you have overlooked to turn it into one of love. Now think, could someone else do that exact same thing with a different book? The answer is yes.

On to the last point. If your religion is the only thing that gives breath to your life, I pity you. We are all inundated with the wonder of our universe if we choose to open our eyes and minds to its splendor. The magic of the human experience is filled with adventure, love, happiness, disappointment, pain, recovery, growth, achievement…with life! Knowing that my time here is the only time I will ever know does not make my life less valuable, but more! If you had one chance to savor a perfectly grilled steak in your lifetime, would you savor it, or mope while it decomposed on the plate in front of you? If you need religion to be happy, that’s quite fine. Enjoy your faith. Celebrate it. But please do not assume that there is no happiness in the world without it, and if you ever feel the urge to contribute to the usurpation of our government by a theocratic regime, be ready to meet resistance.

I did not read your whole email cause you can’t argue with ignorance. No i know there are peaceful muslims but muslim extremists are about murder. You don’t have to be an atheist to not have found God and many people, in fact most that turn their life around do it cause they found God. And the reason this country is worse, not better than 40 years ago is the lack of morals and pushing God away. In fact all the stuff that happens in schools didn’t happen till God was taken out of the schools. This country is falling apart economically and in many ways bc it is rejecting God and he used to bless and protect us. But he’s removing that cause he doesn’t force himself on anyone.

If your boss allows you to respond to people in such an unprofessional way then this organization needs to be shut down. You seem to have a demonic spirit within you so I’ll pray for you.
