God Bless USA and the military.  Without God our soldiers are without protection. But hey that’s what your organization wants.  I will continue to pray for God’s protecting watch over our brave men and women that choose to protect your rights to believe as you do. I also pray for your salvation and for the people that are being misled by you and others on the road to hell that is real and is eternal. You can disagree with me but that doesn’t change the reality of God, Jesus Christ, and the need for man to trust in Christ as Lord and Savior to enter the kingdom of heaven. God Bless

Dear (name withheld),

Thank you for writing to MRFF and sharing your thoughts.  Mikey Weinstein has asked me to reply, and I’m happy to do so.  I’m a lifelong, committed Christian and an Air Force veteran, in addition to being an MRFF supporter.
As a fellow Christian, I certainly appreciate your prayers for our country and military.  As a veteran and a staunch supporter in the US Constitution, I also understand that not everyone holds the same religious beliefs as me. Still, every members of the US military should expect to fully receive the Constitutional guarantees of religious freedom to which they and all Americans are entitled by virtue of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.  We live in a diverse, pluralistic society; the soldiers, sailors, and airmen who protect us reflect that diversity. That means that our military must be equally respectful of the religious rights of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Freethinkers, Atheists and every other conceivable creed, doctrine or belief.
It would seem that some of our fellow Christians are unwilling to accept that reality, and seek to give their particular brand of Christianity a place of preference and prominence in our military organizations. To do so is not only unconstitutional, it is disrespectful of the many, many upstanding men and women who serve honorable but don’t happen to be Christians.
So please continue to pray for everyone for whom you wish to pray. But I’d ask that you also pray that all Christian military leaders would remember to respect the dignity and the rights of their non-Christian subordinates.
Mike Challman
Christian, AF veteran, MRFF supporter
