Dear (name withheld),

I am writing in response to your May 18, 2015 email to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (“MRFF”).  You clearly have no understanding of MRFF’s mission or the principles of religious freedom in this country.  As an initial matter, MRFF is not an Atheist organization, as you claim.  Instead, it works tirelessly to protect the religious freedom of all soldiers, sailors, Marines, cadets, and veterans.  MRFF’s clients practice a variety of different religions, and some practice no religion at all, but over 95% of MRFF clients are Christians!

Although you claim that those of us working with MRFF “need to be shipped to Russia or China so [we] can be [A]theist in those countries,” Atheists are not only permitted to live in the U.S., but the First Amendment protects their choice not to worship any deity – just as it protects your right to freely practice the religion of your choice.

Further, the First Amendment protects your right to express your disagreement with the work of MRFF, even if your opinion is obviously misinformed and your expression of it includes hateful remarks, such as wishing that we could be “ultimately drone[d.”  MRFF understands and respects this right.  Consequently, despite your desire that we “come after” you, email responses to your correspondence are all you are going to get in that regard.  MRFF is much too busy working to protect the rights of all men and women in uniform to worry about the ignorant ramblings of someone like you.  Besides, I don’t even chase my shots – why would I chase after you?
