MRFF President/Founder Mikey Weinstein was contacted on November 13, 2015 regarding the practice of a regional supervisor of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Directorate of Contracting continually including various biblical quotes within their government e-mail signatures.  Based upon MRFF’s demands on behalf of its active duty and civilian clients, USACE Chief of Staff Col. Pete Helmlinger informed Mikey that the regional supervisor in question was told that their “religious messages have been unwelcomed by some” and that they “agreed to stop including them”.  Notwithstanding the fact the MRFF achieved the specifically desired results for our clients, Mikey immediately responded to this tepid corrective measure by informing Col. Helmlinger that this was an extremely serious violation of applicable religious neutrality regulations as well as the U.S. Constitution.  Mikey informed Col. Helmlinger that this type of religious proselytizing activity conducted under the color of government authority requires significantly stronger corrective action on his part in order to change the permissive environment that he has allowed to develop within his organization towards this type of egregious violation. The conversation went very well.
