Bible on Desk

To Mr Weinstein: After reading the news article of your scathing attack on the Air Force Major for having a Bible on his desk, let me say this very candidly and to the point although your conscience has been so seared with a hot iron that you are not only unable to receive this rebuke but will refuse to accept it.  However you handle it, you and I emphatically state YOU like Jesus declared to the Pharisees are and I repeat are of your spiritual father, the Devil!! UNLESS God by a sovereign act of His will shows and grants you His mercy in being able to repent to the acknowledgement of the truth you can be assured that you are destined to hell. As the Lord addressed His enemy through the powerful archangel Michael in one passage of scripture “The Lord rebuke you Satan”. This same rebuke applies to YOU!! My prayer is that God reward according to your works.

Dear (name withheld),

I am taking this opportunity to respond to your “interesting” position, as I am curious as to how you rectify your view as a Judge of Mikey and your scriptural admonition from Matthew 7:1-3?  You see, in order to pass judgement you must understand the case.  In this case your position is flawed.  I know Mikey, and I must admit, at first I thought he was the Devil incarnate.  You see we (not directly at first) sat on the opposite side of the table in regards to Religion or no Religion in the military.  Pardon me while I digress, you see I retired from the Army as a Colonel in the Chaplain Corp in February of this year.  In my time (33 years) I served both the Army and Air Force both in peace and war (four combat tours).  With this I am also endorsed as a Pentecostal/Charismatic Chaplain/Pastor.  Now, after really understanding Mikey does, I support him fully to include be on his National Advisory Council.
You may at this point say “what changed”?  Well on top of the fact that Mikey and MRFF have almost 46,000 clients and 90+% of them are Christian, I can see a very dangerous problem.  I serve in a Pluralistic environment and was responsible for ensuring the 1st Amendment of the Constitution was protected for ALL members of the Armed Force.  This is done by either performing a religious ritual or providing for the religious rituals (or lack thereof) of people of differing faiths.  So with that in mind, do you not see the danger of a Senior Leader so blatantly leaving his bible on a desk open and highlighted?  No, you probably do not as you may not have ever served.  Let me enlighten you.  A junior military member is always looking for ways to stay out of the “Majors Office” or as most of them refer to them as “the old man/woman”.  If they are called in there is a lot of fear and if they see something like the aforementioned item, they will be compelled to try and mitigate the “infraction”  or lack of, by seeking the Officers alliance and he or she will do what they perceive is necessary to do so.  In is case a Junior member will gravitate to the bible and seek to use it to “get out of the office”.  As a former enlisted (Air Force and Army) as well as a line officer in both the Army and Air Force then a Chaplain in both I see where this makes a significant issue as now all faith groups or those that have no faith (be it atheist, agnostic or simply spiritual) must have equal access.
I hate to single out a group; but, there is an underlying agenda in a lot of the military areas to bring about a “Christian Army” of warriors or rather Crusaders.  Do you still not see the issue here?  Let me simplify it, you are appalled by radical Islam, why?  There is an obvious answer, and you do not want a resurrection of the Crusades.  So Mikey and I agree, keep the military religious and political free.  If we do not then we will slide down a slope that will not end well.

Respectfully,

Thank you for the response. I am not hear to argue or compromise the word of God. When you or any one else exalts any form of doctrine or policy including the U S Constitution above the word of God you have in effect lifted up an idol above God. You cannot be a friend of the world and a friend of God which His word calls you an enemy of God. Jesus made it very clear that if you were not for Him you were against Him. Furthermore God’s word declares we are NOT to be unequally yoked with unbelievers as Miky Weinstein is. The apostle Paul declared if God judges those who are outside the body are we not to judge those within. Furthermore, Jesus declared Not everyone that calls me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that DOES the will of my Father. Maybe as you get ready one day to enter into eternity you can call on the US Constitution or Buddha, or any other false God in the name of religious freedom and perhaps they will be able to save you.

Dear (name withheld),
Thank you for clarifying who I am and where I am going.  Let me ask you, have you ever held your gunner as he is dying due to a massive chest wound and you hear him utter these last words “sir, thank you, I am going home” as he died?  Yet not three hours before he came up to me and asked me to lead him to the Lord. Maybe you do not understand the passage in Matthew (28:19) where we are told to make disciples of all nations.  How pray tell do you make disciples if you do not develop relationships with people?  It is one thing to lead others to Christ, it is another thing to place judgement on them.  A few last thoughts, I voluntarily placed myself into the role of Servant of all, by willingly stepping away from a church that was adding over 300 people a week to the roles because I felt the need to be on the front lines with our troops.  Unfortunately 14 of my people died in the service to their country; however, I was there with all but two.  I willingly placed my live in between my troops and the enemy on two occasions (oh and Chaplains are unarmed) as I was willing to die instead of them, so I guess that John 15:13 does not apply to me either.  Did I tell you that I do not fear death as I am certain that Jesus forgave my sins and I am going on to help others regardless of their current belief.  I am not going to argue but I honestly feel like the Apostle Paul in Romans 8 justifying my service, so this is irrelevant.  You really do need to search your soul to see how many you win with a judgmental attitude.  I know how many I have lead to a deeper relationship with Christ and for that I am thankful enough.  I am a friend of Mikey’s, because what he is doing is correct.  When I watch his work and his passion I understand just how dangerous it is to have a government sanctioned religion, that was why the original settlers from Europe came to America to get away from such rule.  I am not praying to the Constitution nor am I elevating it above the Word of God, what I am doing is telling people it is a very slippery slope once you start sliding down the slope of Government Sanctioning.  Oh, and I even worked in the White House in the current Administration and I was not afraid to say what was right when it was needed (no, I did not make a lot of friends that way), so to say that I have diluted my testimony – nope, not in the least.  I choose to love people to their most important decision they can make, judging is reserved for God.
Mikey is not an Atheist and you do not know him, he even served Ronald Reagan and is not a liberal, in the way that many would try and keyhole him.  He will fight for a person who is denied the opportunity to worship Christ, or a person who chooses Buddhism.  We must constantly be reminded that the Crusades have passed and now we must remember that the world will know us by our love.
