Recently, I received news that Rachel K. Laser was named new Executive Director of Americans United For Separation of Church and State (AU). MRFF has teamed up with AU many times in the past. They are a very valuable ally. On November 7, 2011, I was greatly honored by AU and was awarded the organization’s first-ever “Person of the Year Award.”  In their press release, AU described MRFF as “the leading voice protecting church-state separation in the military.” For 25 years, Rev. Barry W. Lynn served as AU’s executive director valiantly fighting for American’s Constitutional rights.  Barry recently retired after an illustrious career.  MRFF applauds AU’s splendid choice to appoint Rachel K. Laser to assume the position. I am genuinely emboldened by seeing a woman of such caliber carry the torch.

Rachel’s impressive career includes working for Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, Third Way, and the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.  MRFF and I look forward to working with Rachel and strengthening our alliance with Americans United.  Both of our organizations value, above all else, the Constitution.  With the current bigoted climate perpetuated by U.S leadership, fighters loyal to the Constitution first are more crucial than ever.

Though still only February, the year 2018 has already proven challenging on multiple fronts.  The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) and its allies have battled hard against Fundamentalist Evangelism in the U.S Government.  We sent multiple letters in January demanding Fort Jackson Disinvite Kenneth Copeland from speaking at a prayer breakfast. MRFF exposed the media to Copeland’s Fundamentalist and bigoted views on PTSD.  Americans United joined MRFF in this fight.  We entered the fray regarding a Whiteman AFB General’s unconstitutional endorsement of a prayer event and partnered up with San Jose Atheists to put on a speaking event for the public which occurred last night.

Again, MRFF and I would like to congratulate Rachel on her position, and we look forward to moving mountains together immediately and into the foreseeable future.
