Subject: OMAHA VA CLINIC POW/MIA Display, Friday, 5 APR 2019

Dear Mikey

The display of a Bible with the POW/MIA table is utterly revolting for 2019. As a retired Army Colonel (26 years) and 100% disabled Veteran, I walked by this display at the VA OMAHA Clinic today (Friday, 5 APR 2019). It is upsetting that this display excludes so many of other faiths or non-faith. The Bible must be removed from a POW/MIA display. I am a professed Christian and the spouse to a full-time Christian minister, but I embrace equality and non-discrimination over my individual faith. I did not report my disagreement with the display at the local VA clinic in Omaha because this is SYSTEMIC and must be addressed at the top. As a strategic leader, I know that a policy must be written to eradicate this across the VA medical system. As a member of a local veterans society of Nebraska and Western Iowa, we recently had a banquet with a POW/MIA table and we did it with professionalism and decorum without a mention of faith. It was an honorable way forward. The entire Veterans Administration must address this issue throughout the entire VA system and network through a coherent published policy. I ask the Military Religious Freedom Foundation not rest until a policy is signed and enforced.

I hereby transfer all right title and interest to these photographs to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

Thank you,

(name and all other ID information withheld)

…thx so very much, Sean……plz have someone there at your NWI VA facility contact me ASAP about the unfortunate matter below….thr Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) is presently representing 9 veterans who are also patients at your VA facility….2 of them are Christians (including the writer below) and the others are Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Atheist/Agnostic….ALL of them fear reprisal or retaliation if they were to bring their objections to the placement of that Christian bible on your POW/MIA table directly to you and be forced, therefore, to identify themselves…they fear they will be targeted for revenge by the leadership at your VA facility…..MRFF asks on behalf of our veteran clients, who are also your VA patients, that you remove the sectarian Christian bible immediately from your POW/MIA display to ensure that this POW/MIA display is inclusive of ALL veterans regardless of their faith or no-faith traditions….as it stands now, Sean, that POW/MIA table, with the quite prominent inclusion of the sectarian Christian bible, clearly elevates the Christian faith to an unfair and unconstitutional position of supremacy, triumphalism, dominance and exclusivity over ALL other faith and no-faith traditions…as a State Actor, your VA facility MUST adhere to the U.S. Constitution’s No Establishment Clause in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights…..plz remove it right away…..please so advise soonest….thank you…Mikey Weinstein…Founder and President, Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) …standing by at 505-250-7727
