Mikey—

Don’t expect a response to my note.

You are group is barking up the wrong tree again. I’m referring to your latest rant about the chaplain at NAVSTA Newport and his flyer advertising a leadership seminar on Christian values.

There is no constitutional crisis or violation of “church and state.”

Perhaps your group is low on cash and needing to raise monies?

This chaplain is merely exercising his first amendment rights which are within the code of UCMJ.

Bark somewhere else.

Hello Chaplain (name withheld),

Perhaps you misunderstand, but even if so there’s no need to be snide.

The flyer in question would be perfectly fine if sent out to those who attend his services, but I trust you’re aware that blasting it out generally, to all Commanders as well as all others at a military installation, crosses the line. If it had been done properly, neither we nor those who complained to us would have had a problem with it. But then, of course, you’d have had no reason to be both defensive and offensive.
