Photo of Mikey Weinstein looking intently toward the camera with a slightly raised fist, wearing a black suit and red tie.

“When you are in the business MRFF is in, of fighting for civil rights, you often have to deal with the media pretty much on a daily basis. One of the best indicators of the value of any news outlet is whether or not they reach out to both sides for comment.

As you will see in this incredibly pedestrian “hit piece” from former Fox News personality Todd Starnes, he/they never reached out to us at all. Starnes does talk about MRFF’s incredible success, which I’m sure is meant to throw red meat to the MAGA-infused legions out there.

I also see that Mike Barry, one of the lawyers for the fundamentalist Christian nationalist organization First Liberty Council also praises Congress for trying to assassinate MRFF by legislation. Legislation which has been well documented by our foundation since we first found out about it in late June.

Our foundation is proud to represent 211 soldiers at Fort Liberty and particularly proud that 165 of them are Christians. Those 165 are standing up for their U.S. Army battle buddies who are not Christians in this matter of blatantly unconstitutional fundamentalist Christian hatred, bigotry and prejudice.”

OK – I forgot how horrible Todd Starnes is and I have a pretty good memory. I mean, I know he lies like he breathes but yikes….

I read as far as I could before needing a shower to decontaminate. Suffice it to say Mr Starnes is a master at presenting some of the facts so his story sounds good but then runs off the rails with addons and embellishments that never happened.

Good to know he’s perfected his crap spewing skills. Everyone needs goals.

If youre wondering how your MRFF donations are being used, look no further than Mickeys left hand in the picture.

If you’re wondering how your MAGA donations are being used, look no further than the four criminal indictments for 91 felony charges as well as the two civil cases against Daffy Donald.

For all the MAGA seniors out there, the Democrats just saved you from a 30% cut to Social Security by the MAGA Republicans in Congress.

Send that 30% to the Puerile Pussy, Dumbass Donald. He’s working on a wardrobe change and needs some money!

He only hires the best people but his attorney, Alina Habba, forgot to ask for a jury trial, so……they get what they asked for – no jury!

I understand she’s a graduate of Trump University so no surprise there!

In Trump’s own words, “I’m like, a really smart person!”

Now that’s some funny shit! Forget running for office! He should be doing standup!

Mikey thinks that Constitutional freedoms are suspended the moment you walk onto public property. Do I have the freedom of speech on a military installation?

  5. Ironmoped October 13, 2023 at 7:36 pm

Of course you have freedom of speech on a military installation……sometimes! It depends on whether you’re in the military or not and when you use it and what you say!

Even as a civilian on a military installation as a guest, you don’t have the same freedom of speech that you have off-post. Try saying something publicly on a military installation that detracts from the good order and discipline of the military and see what happens!

You’ve obviously never served in the military or you’d know that “the rules” you’re governed by as a military member, are a different set of rules than an American civilian has, codified in the Uniform Code of Military Justice, UCMJ.

Evangelizing is allowed as long as it isn’t harassing in nature or disrupts the good order and discipline. You cannot try to “convert” someone to your religion while in uniform, period. You know why? Because that uniform identifies you as a representative of something a lot bigger than yourself!

As an example, a soldier might say, “hey, we’re having a prayer meeting tonight if you’d like to join us.” No issues.

But if that same soldier said, “hey, the Commander is having a prayer service at his house tonight and expects everyone to be there,” now you have an issue!

Regarding Mikey and his take on Constitutional freedoms, Mikey IS an attorney and was a JAG Officer for over ten years, so…….legal advice from Matthew vs Mikey, yeah, I think I’m gonna go with Mikey – every time!

You commented on “Constitutional freedoms being suspended the moment you walk onto public property.” A military installation is NOT public property. Don’t believe me? Try to get onto a military installation and watch what happens!

You have access to the world’s largest information data base on your phone! Try spending a minute and a half looking it up, you wouldn’t be asking the question you asked!

The bookstore at the mall is not on public property! Period! It’s on a joint-force military installation. AAFES is a part of the Department of Defense. When a Christian bookstore is allowed on a military installation, it becomes representative of the DOD’s position on religion in the military, in this case, favoring Christianity over all others.

I think someone should approach the vendor and ask them to order a few atheist books for them like Sam Harris’s “Letter To A Christian Nation.” Or Chris Hitchens’ “God Is Not Great.”

And when they refuse, file a complaint with the Secretary of Defense!

We do NOT have a Christian military! It’s a secular military that provides personal religious freedom for all of its 221 recognized religious faiths.

If only Matthew exhibited a teaspoon of curiosity their question would have been answered.

Two seconds and I found this “a civilian is not subject to military laws, even if they are on base or in a military-run location. They must still follow all civilian laws as they normally would and may be subject to rules and codes of conduct that are tailored to their location”

In other words, service personnel are held to military standards which are stricter than civilian standards. They have to be for security purposes.

I know Matthew, confusing you with facts like that. What was I thinking?

For the record, breaching the wall between church and state is a Christian nationalist pastime, all while whining how their incursions are proof of their persecution.

Talk about wanting one’s cake and eating it too!
