MRFF Victory!!! Christian Bibles will be Replaced by Blank Journals on POW/MIA Tables at ALL Lexington, Kentucky, VA Facilities After Demand from MRFF

Last week, a VA medical center in the Lexington, Kentucky, VA Health Care System petulantly removed its entire POW/MIA, or “missing man,” table display from its lobby rather than simply removing the Gideons “New Testament — Psalms and Proverbs” from the table, which was all that a group of twelve veteran MRFF clients wanted the facility to do.
But after MRFF’s public exposing of this outrageous and vindictive action on the part of that one facility, the executive director of the Lexington VA Health Care System has made the right call, writing in a letter to Mikey Weinstein that Bibles will no longer be a part of of the POW/MIA table displays in ANY of the system’s facilities.
From the Lexington VA Health Care System executive director’s Nov. 28 letter to Mikey Weinstein:
“All table displays within VA Lexington Health Care System will contain the following: small table, white tablecloth, single rose, vase, yellow ribbon, slice of lemon, salt, bread plate, glass, candle, empty chair, and a journal.”

crickets…
Well, yeah. The Constitution is followed so what did you expect? Your straw man to suddenly come to life a la Pinocchio?
We aren’t the bad guys you think we are. Might want to do some introspective thinking JewsForJesus.
MRFF is so pathetic. Remove a Bible from a POW table of the fallen. That’s religious freedom for you! It’s so cringe. How many Qurans have you had removed? How many Torahs? Remove any Buddhist papers? I’m sure MRFF is too cowardly to push to remove any of that material. They love to target Christians only. Next, MRFF will push to remove the crosses off the headstones of fallen Christian service men and women because “religious freedom” or something. Disgraceful.
You do not support freedom with what you are doing. You certainly don’t support any service members by doing this. Your roots must be in the communist party not America.
Sadly, I am amazed that this kind of anti-Christian thinking is the philosophy of this organization. But since it was founded on the idea of the American flag being the religion, it is not a surprise to see this being viewed as a victory. I had not heard of this organization, but it does appear they are open to supporting atheism. Too bad.
“How many Qurans have you had removed? How many Torahs? Remove any Buddhist papers?” NO, because the ONLY people in this country who try to use the government tp push their religion on others are bible-thumper fundamentalist protestants.
Sad, to remove any hope of seeing their fallen buddies in eternity. No one is forced to read the Bible, but that option is taken away. So much for freedom of speech.
How does removing bibles from official government displays take away the option to read it other places?
And how does that “remove any hope of seeing their fallen buddies in eternity?”
Communist Party? Anti-Christian thinking? Founded on the American flag being their religion? The critics of MRFF clearly have no basis in reality on which they can criticize the organization/ except to criticize its mission. The MRFF is an organization dedicated to maintaining freedom of religion for all in our military, and the critics don’t want to admit that what really bothers them is that MRFF is effective at fulfilling this mission. So, they make up crazy nonsense accusations about the supposed goals and methods of the MRFF that anyone who knows what the organization really does will know are ridiculous and false. The only accusation against the MRFF that hasn’t been made so far is that the board members are forcing these liars into typing their lies and posting them here, against their will – and I expect to see that one soon.
Thom says the MRFF is not removing Qurans and Buddhist papers from POW/MIA tables. You know why? Because it doesn’t exist! It’s a made-up fiction in that Christian head of yours, which would explode if the VA dressed up a POW/MIA table with a Quran! Gasp! The conflation of being a POW/MIA with Christianity is actually a testament to the impotence of the Christian God!
What’s the purpose of the POW/MIA table? As a tribute to servicemen, it has to be the dumbest fucking display there could ever be! Let’s see, I went into combat with 10 men but only came back with eight! Fuck! I wish I could remember their names! Let’s put up a table for all missing servicemen. That way we won’t have to remember who they were! Yeah, that’ll do it!
There are no US POWs and the 80,000 MIAs are, unfortunately, long since dead and not coming back! The table is fucking meaningless to begin with. Frankly, adorning a table with the Christian Bible holds a double entendre, one is mythical supporting something meaningless. The only POWs alive today are the 30 that still remain in Guantanamo!
Stephen says, ” I don’t like you, therefore, you’re communist!” Don’t over exert yourself! That took some real thought!
Mikola says “you must be open to supporting Atheism.” An incorrect assumption. But why would supporting Atheism be bad? Atheism is not a belief system. It simply means I don’t believe there is a God. That’s it! Simple! But you, Mikola, are just as Atheist as I am. You don’t believe in Zeus, or Mithra, or Athena, or Osiris, or Poseidon, or any of the other 3,000 Gods that humans have very genuinely worshipped and believed in. So, you’re 99.99% as Atheist as I am, I just go one God further! You won’t know freedom until you throw off the shackles of your inculcated religiosity. Being Christian is pure happenstance, a function of where you were born. Your religiosity started as an accident of birth, not cognition (for the most part).
Believing in the Bible makes you a Christian, reading it makes you an Atheist! With freedom from religion comes responsibility, accountability, and self reliance! It’s nice not having a God to blame or be blamed by! Yes, I know, I’m going to be burned for all eternity – by your loving Christian God!
Ronald thinks if you don’t put a Bible on the POW/MIA table, you won’t get to see your buddies after you die!
“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, and I thought as a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things.” 1 Corinthians 13:11.
Ronald evidently thinks the only place to read the Bible is at the VA. Try the library! Or, maybe, I dunno, church? At home?
The Bible on a POW/MIA table is a Christian adornment that steals the valor of those POWs and MIAs that were NOT Christian!
We have a secular military in these United States of America with Constitutional protections from a State-mandated religion.
That’s why the VA, representing the “State,” cannot favor one religion over another. And that’s why the Bible needs to be removed!
Has nothing to do with anyone picking on Christianity. It has everything to do with the State not being able to establish a State religion for everyone to follow.
You know the “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” I think it’s a dreadful idea – they may not like it!
satan wins again
As a VAT having served for 24 years, a frllower of Jesus Christ and serving as a Gideon I am very offended by this action and pray for the the induviduals making the decision to remove God’s Word tor the “Missing Man’s Table”. Our country is falling further and further away from God.
Danny,
Why would you be offended? Could the “missing man” be Muslim? Or Hindu? Wiccan, Pagan, or many other flavors of religion besides Christianity? Or perhaps the missing man has no religion!
You’re offended that you don’t get to represent ALL those missing with a Christian Bible?
So, you wouldn’t mind being represented, after your death, with a Quran? Or maybe a Star of David on your tombstone? No big deal right?
You are right about one thing. Our country IS falling further and further away from God. Particularly with the younger crowd. They’re not buying the bullshit anymore.
Christianity has just crossed a threshold in this country. For the first time ever, greater than 50% of professed Christians don’t attend church!
Slow but steady progress!
Oh my stars and garters… the impotent rage from the Starnes boys has me giggling (Todd Starnes commands – his followers go commenting).
Y’all know the followers of the MAGA way have never read our founding fathers in their own words?
I would hazard a guess that each and every snowflake crying about the supposed misdeeds of the MRFF grew up reading the alternative historical facts dreamed up by the father/son team of Dave and Tim Barton (men who haven’t met a founding father they didn’t misquote).
It would be funny except for the whole trying to take over the USA in order to bring forth their new and improved country filled with all the old ‘isms that continue to plague the country today. The only way We The People survive this onslaught is to shed the light of day on their shenanigans.
To “the devil” and Danny T. Ball: your freedom to worship as you wish depends on brave and energetic people like Mikey Weinstein and the MRFF Board and volunteers defending that freedom by urging our government to keep out of religion and respect the freedom of conscience you take for granted every day. If you had your way, religion and government would be mixed in a way that would come back to bite Christians like you very badly in the future – as the percentage of citizens who are Christians continues to declines. When are you going to wake up and realize that defending your religious freedom depends on respecting the diverse religious beliefs of others and defending their religious freedom as you would defend your own?
