US Capitol Building

Under normal circumstances, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which this year contained an amendment from Christian nationalist GOP Rep. Mike Turner of Ohio to shut MRFF down, would have been passed by September 30, the last day of the government’s fiscal year, but with our Congress in complete disarray, this year’s NDAA, as you might have seen in the news over the last few days, has only just this week come out of conference, where the differences between the House version and the Senate version of the bill have been reconciled and a “final” bill produced.

This “final” bill still needs to be voted on by both the House and the Senate, which is likely to happen next week before Congress adjourns for the year, but as you’ll read below in MRFF Founder and President Mikey Weinstein’s message to MRFF’s friends and supporters, we are now “cautiously optimistic” about the outcome.

This hasn’t been our first battle with Christian nationalists in Congress who seek nothing short of MRFF’s demise — and indeed the demise of any vestige of a separation between church and state — and it certainly won’t be our last, but, as for now, this contest in the ongoing battle appears to be coming to a close.

The MAGA Klan – the Party of Dickheads, the embodiment of faith-based Christianized groping (Lauren Blowbert), have accomplished so much since they took over the House, public pissing in DC and the entering of Hunter Biden dick pics in Congressional testimony, two of the most notable legislative accomplishments during their tenure, have lost their bid to outlaw other than Christianity in the military! All according to God’s will!

With the military continually falling short of meeting recruitment goals, having offered huge financial incentives and waiving things like drug testing and tattoos, maybe it’s time for the “Christians,” you know, the only true Patriots, by their reckoning, to step up and sign up! Do you think Trump having called those dead military members “suckers” has anything to do with low recruiting numbers?

With a war with Iran on the horizon, you’d think Christians would be signing up in droves, the thought of killing Muslims high on their list of “must do” priorities!

C’mon all you Christians, your chance to send your son’s and daughters off to war and go shoot real guns is calling!

I mean, look at Gaza! We do love us some killing Muslims! Goddamn! Like bombing barrels full of fish! Too easy!

To think, they’ll be led by Christian Commanders! What a bonus! You can hold hands and pray before every battle. What’s not to love!

Sign up! Uncle Trump needs you! You know, two Corinthians and all the caper!

Oh, before I forget, it does get cold in Iran, snows like hell in December in the north, they do have a few pretty good ski slopes, maybe MWR can set up some ski trips for you in Ab Ali or Desin you can use in your down time. Bring some cold weather gear if it kicks off in winter. Might be a job for the 10th Mountain Division.

Thanks to all the Christian Moms and Dad’s out there that are going to get their kids to sign up! Mike Turner is going to need your Christian sons and daughters when he sends them off to Iran! Don’t worry though. We’ll bomb the shit out of them first before your sons and daughters have to go in with “boots on the ground!”

Course, the first thing Iran will do is launch an attack on Israel. Might complicate things a bit but Mike Turner, ever the military strategist, along with Mike Johnson, and that keen military strategist Tommy Tuberville, aided by Lauren Blowbert and MGT, will have already thought of that – tell your kids not to worry!

I don’t think Trump really meant it when he called the military “suckers.”

    Or did he?

    Christianity – Can’t start a US-led war without it!

Republicans – Out The Door In 24!

Friends, this is only a partial, temporary victory. It is important that we, once again, make an effort to ensure that our service members have a voice backing their right to religious freedoms protected. That voice is MRFF’s AND OUR’s.
I encourage you all to make that simple, easy effort now – pick up the phone and call your state representative and both of your senators and explain to them why this Turner amendment must be permanently absent from the final reconciled NDAA. Make the call at the open of business and speak to someone – don’t just leave a message. Then make the next call and the next call.
Next – here’s the big lift – call a friend, a relative, talk to a neighbor, a coworker and encourage them to do the same. With enough calls and a big election cycle starting, they will take notice.
The fight isn’t over until we have won – and we haven’t won until the Turner amendment is removed before the NDAA comes to a final vote.

Oh my goodness! Christian values again on display down in Florida with the Chair of the Republican Party, Christian Ziegler, having been accused of rape by an unidentified woman that he and his wife, Bridgette Ziegler (founder of Mothers for Liberty and a school board member along with serving on the State’s tourism board), had previously engaged in a threesome with!

The Zieglers are considered a Florida Republican (MAGAT) power couple and I’m guessing they followed Trump’s lead in grabbing someone by the pussy!

I’m assuming it was a Christian threesome, but apparently, Christian told the unidentified woman that he would be meeting her in their latest planned rendezvous, at her apartment, by himself. The unidentified woman said that she was in it for Bridgette Ziegler and not him. Ziegler showed up at her apartment anyway and when she wouldn’t put out, he, apparently, raped her according to the reporting.

Now these are folks that are, in true Christian form, completely against LGBTQ rights, although, it appears that Bridgette and their threesome friend did enjoy them some good old fashioned Christian muff diving!

But these are good Christian traits that ought to be welcomed on all school boards – except the ones where children’s education is involved! Not many of those in Florida thank God!

But the tourism board she serves on, no better way to say “Welcome to Florida” than the opportunity for a good Christian threesome!

They ought to get together with Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Green, Matt Gaetz, and even give former Congressman Madison Cawthorne a call – all of them good Christians that absolutely love them some of that Jesus Love, as in “Jesus Christ that was good!”

Nothing like Christian values in the MAGA sphere! Great role models for all Christian kids!

Course, you need protection during Christian infidelity. If you happen to get pregnant, remember that you’re going to carry it to term, whether it’s viable or not!

What a shock to find people trumpeting their religion ostentatiously and wearing their sanctimonious facade like a suit of armor shielding them from any accountability turn out to be hypocrites! Will wonders never cease?

  5. Ironmoped December 14, 2023 at 8:59 pm

OK, I’ve got it figured out now! I just had an epiphany! I’ve been bashing Republicans for a long time but I think I’ve finally got them figured out, and in some ways, it’s on me for not understanding their position on things like LGBTQ rights.

Republicans are against LGBTQ rights, because they’re singular rights as you identify with one of the letters in the five. However, if, per the Republican way of thinking, you’re bisexual, like Bridgette Ziegler, Florida school board member, married to the Chair of the Republican Party in Florida, then it’s OK. In other words, you swing both ways and you’re not identifying with one particular sexuality and, therefore, not singled out by any one of the five letters and not subject to any Republican exclusions associated with identifying traits of each individual letter! Too easy!

You can still go to church and be a good Christian, because, while you’re at church, you’re only identifying with the heterosexual side of your nature. You know, moral relativism. It’s kind of a Republican thing!

When Bridgette attends church, she’s there as a good Christian. When she’s in bed with her husband and another woman, it’s in a non-religious context so it’s OK. It’s not a slight on Christianity or the teachings of the Bible, because for the duration of the tryst, she’s not there as a Christian. She’s there in a more universal capacity, acutely spiritual but not in a Christian way!

I get it now, finally! Behavior outside of the Christian domain is not against the teachings of the Bible or Christianity, because you have to have been engaged in the activity as a Christian, but that can be suspended for the duration of the activity!

I’m guessing the thought of “what would Jesus say,” wasn’t in the front of Bridgette’s mind as she engaged in sex with another woman and her own husband.

You know, she was after all, with her husband, so it wasn’t like there was any infidelity going on, another point in her and her husband’s favor in terms of the Christianity index.

The thought of un-Christian like behavior “may” have been in her sub-conscious, but that doesn’t count when it comes to sin on the Christian index. I think it’s even mentioned in the Caustic Gospels, “thou sin be not of import less thy cognizance betray thee!”

So, I’ve obviously been wrong and I stand corrected. Sinful behavior in Christianity is only sinful if the sin occurs within the boundaries of Christian awareness of that sin!

I mean, how could Bridgette be held accountable for un-Biblical bisexual behavior? She wasn’t engaged in the act as a Christian!

I mean, that just stands to reason in the MAGA world. Ask Lauren Boebert. Or Matt Gaetz, or MTG, or Donald Trump! All good Christians!

Nothing wrong with extra-marital sex in Christianity. As long as you’re not engaged in that sex as a Christian!

    You know, moral relativism.

Republicans – Out The Fucking Door In 24!

Get rid of these charlatans and take back your religion Christians!

They’ve stolen your religion and are mocking you! Spitting right in your face!

Don’t turn the other cheek! Kick their asses out! Surely you have someone in Christiandom you can replace these piss-takers with!

    Or do you?

I know a few sex workers on the vanilla and kinky side. Back in the day when the GOP held their convention in my home town all of them, but especially the kinky ones, were busier than a cat in room of rocking chairs filled with crocheting humans.

Historically the humans who tell all within earshot of their great moral character are the ones doing unspeakable acts behind closed doors. They are the humans who abuse boundaries and ignore the rules of consent. They believe to their core they are their deities chosen few to which all pleasures are their just reward.

The rest of us who’ve either studied or lived through history see them for who and what they are – ugly, selfish, greedy souls. They are the hypocrites who deny the rights of others because all rights are given to them by their deity. Ask them – they will expound at length at their ‘virtues’.

    Ironmoped,

The Christian denominations living as their Lord and Savior commanded are doing something. They are quietly working behind the scenes registering their fellow citizens to vote. They are talking amongst themselves on how best to combat the nationalism you’ve brought up in your comment.

I know so many humans are doing this but my personal experience is with the United Church of Christ denomination. It’s not in their nature brag or promote their good works, just as it wasn’t in Christs nature to self promote.

Love each other, be kind, help your neighbor, donate what you can, volunteer as you are able.

That’s the creed. I can’t fault them for being who they are. Which is why I bring up their good works and promote their true dedication to their faith.

As I said there are many more besides the UCC who do the same thing but I don’t know their stories. Perhaps someone who is outside their faith but views their good works with love can be their cheerleader. I would hope in our fight for democracy that many do exactly that.

It’s not always the grand gestures that win a war but the accumulated tiny actions of millions. Death by a million paper cuts is still death after all.

Out the door in 2024 – the GOP is no longer who they used to be. To save Democracy we all must do what we can do so this election vote blue no matter who.

    Thanks.

  8. Ironmoped December 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm

    Well said!

It’s just so much fun to reinforce their Christian opinion of themselves and show them how truly great they really are!

Blessings be upon us with all those great Christians in positions (Kama sutra) of power! :-)

  9. Ironmoped December 15, 2023 at 8:05 pm

So America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, gets handed a $148 Million verdict against him. It’s actually quite sad watching America’s mayor debase himself for all these years following Trump! He’ll die a pauper, in jail, penniless. He sold his soul to Trump as have many others and is following him right into historical oblivion!

He’s also being sued by the two voting machine companies, not to mention his ex girl friend, as well as facing jail time in Georgia as a Trump co-conspirator!

Yeah, I’ll go along with “Vote Blue No Matter Who!” And so should you!

Why? Because Christianity has been stolen by Christians In Name Only (CINOs). Stolen by power brokers that will say or do anything to stay in power!

I don’t fault Christianity. I fault those in power who will ride the backs of good and decent men and women, compromising their own integrity right along with yours!

It’s damn hard to admit to having been so naive, so duped, so scammed! Jim Jones got over 900 people to drink cyanide laced punch, parents giving it to their own children, convinced it was the right thing to do! These weren’t bad people. They were just like you and I. But duped, part of an obsessive cult! They, literally, drank the kool aid and it cost them their lives and the lives of those they loved! All in fealty to one man!

The ONLY way we get this country on the right track is to accept our differences and work together toward a better tomorrow!

That tomorrow endowed with the freedoms this country was built upon.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – together!

If we don’t hang together, we’ll hang separately

Take back your Christianity. Vote Blue! Let’s make this a better place!

The problem with Christian good works is that it comes with a price. The price is the evangelism that accompanies those good works.

Missions to Haiti, while they may provide a service to help victims of a natural disaster, also come with the message of “Jesus loves you,” particularly, our specific denominational flavor of the Christian message. In other words, strings attached.

A more secular approach would be to provide the help for help’s sake, without the accompanying advertising for the brand.

Much like the MRFF’s approach to protecting service members from the Christianized cost of service to the country.

I don’t buy the Christian “good works” argument. They’re always brand specific and promote an agenda.

I’m sure you’ve seen the Chris Hitchens/Stephen Fry debate, “The Catholic Church Is A Force For Good In the World.” Or the Hitchens lecture on how “Religion Poisons Everything.”

A truly “Christian” good works would leave those helped without any knowledge of who provided it!

I would counter a true dedication to faith would be without brand loyalty. God doesn’t require it. Why do the churches? Because their existence depends on it.

Church is a place you go to pay to hear reaffirming words, in the collective, about how good you are as a person.

Ever been in a grocery line where the cashier asks you if you want to donate to a store-matched and determined good cause? Why would I need the store to donate my money for me? Same as churches.

Much the same as a military Commander convincing a subordinate that their “donation” of service to country is somehow elevated if it’s a “Christianized” donation.

    Just a couple of thoughts.

  11. Mark Sebree December 17, 2023 at 9:15 am

“A truly “Christian” good works would leave those helped without any knowledge of who provided it!”

That statement brings to mind a Xmas Mash episode. Charles’ family had a tradition of anonymously giving high quality chocolate to local orphanages in Boston. So Charles arranged for his family to send him some chocolate so that he could do the same for a local orphanage in Korea. As he was leaving the chocolate, the head master caught him, and Charles explained the tradition, and his memories of it.

Later, at the camp Xmas party, he found that Risso had some of that chocolate, and after some checking, found that the kids did not get any. He talked to the head master, initially angry that the head master had sold the chocolate on the local black market. The head master explained that, while the chocolate would give the kids a moment of joy, the money from the black market sales would feed them for a month. This deflated Charles’ anger, and he realized that the head master was correct.

The main thing is that the gift of chocolate was always supposed to be anonymous. The Winchesters never wanted to get credit for the gift.
