“Complicity or Cowardice Among the Joint Chiefs” — MRFF Advisory Board Member & USAF Brig Gen (ret.) Marty France on how “Senior military leaders are failing service members, citizens, and our Constitution”

Since 20 January 2025, I’ve been quite vocal about the many firings, by Trump and Secretary of Defense Hegseth, of qualified, experienced, and honorable senior members of our military leadership. The generals and admirals fired, sometimes at the insistence of the even less qualified and more partisan and conspiracy-riddled like Laura Loomer, have been disproportionately female or officers of color. Others have been tarred with the “woke” label or cited as “Biden holdovers.” To seal the deal, the top Inspectors General within the Department of Defense and many other government agencies and “TJAGs” (top military lawyers in each service) were also fired.

What’s bothered me most about these purges of senior military leadership, a throw-back to 1930s Stalinism, is that there has been so little reaction to it by other current senior leaders. From their responses, I can only conclude too many of our uniformed senior leaders are either complicit with Trump and his anti-constitutional moves towards authoritarianism (in which they see personal benefit) or they are cowards.
