Col. (Ret.) Lawrence Wilkerson
Lawrence Wilkerson is the Distinguished Visiting Professor of Government and Public Policy at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He also taught for six years in the University Honors Program at the George Washington University in Washington, DC (2006-2011).
His last positions in government were as Secretary of State Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff (2002-05), Associate Director of the State Department’s Policy Planning staff under the directorship of Ambassador Richard N. Haass, and member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs (2001-02). Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson worked as a consultant to General Powell (1997-2000). Before that, he served 31 years in the U.S. Army, including as Deputy Executive Officer to then-General Colin Powell when he commanded the U.S. Army Forces Command (1989), Special Assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-93), and as Director and Deputy Director of the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Quantico, Virginia (1993-97).
During the course of his military service, Wilkerson was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Bronze Star among other awards and decorations. At the Department of State, he earned the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award, as well as two Superior Honor Awards. Since leaving the State Department, Wilkerson has spoken to groups all over America—World Affairs Councils, university and war college audiences, and members of local and state governments and the U.S. Congress and their staffs. In addition, he has been published in The American Conservative, Playboy Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, the Baltimore Sun, the Miami Herald, the New York Daily News, and other magazines and newspapers across the country, as well as appeared on television with Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, Ed Shultz, Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, Wolf Blitzer, the BBC’s Hardtalk and Newsnight, and others. He has appeared in several recent documentaries also, including Alex Gibney’s “Taxi to the Dark Side” and Charles Ferguson’s “No End in Sight”. He was also chairman of the U.S.-Cuba 21st Century Policy Initiative at the New America Foundation from 2006-2010.
Lawrence lives in Falls Church, Virginia. His son, Alex, was a USAF officer/ navigator in C-130s for ten years and now serves fulltime in the Tennessee Air National Guard, making his home in Nashville. His daughter, Suellen, a former Army officer, now helps her husband manage a small farm in Mt. Airy, Maryland.

I have observed your comments on MSNBC and other media, and agree with your comments about Trump. Although I am a registered Republican, I believe he should be impeached before he can do further harm to our country. We need Republicans such as yourself to lead the way to convince other Republicans to put the pressure on Republican Congressmen to impeach him. He has proved he is incapable of leading this country. We can’t afford to wait for 3 1/2 years to replace him.
I suggest that you and other Republicans start a “Republicans for Impeachment” program ASAP.. With Trump as President, we are heading for a new World War with devastating results.

Can you identify specific “high crimes and misdemeanors” committed by the President which would serve as the basis for such an action?
The fact that you don’t like him or disagree with his actions is not a sufficient legal basis for impeachment.
I did not see General Wilkerson’s comments so I don’t know what he described as the legal basis for impeachment.
By the way, I’m a registered Democratic.

Greetings from New Zealand. I much appreciate your incisive commentaries on current military matters, & their geopolitical impact. I write as an independent investigator, about an issue in my own country, which, I believe, can be understood best in an international context. You may be able to help me.
Since early 2018, here in New Zealand, there has been in operation a Royal Commission on Abuse in Care, which has brought to the public horrific evidence of abuse in some our mental institutions, perpetrated mainly in the 1970s, and the cover-up of these state çrimes continued until very recently. Some of the abuses have been reccognized as Çrimes of Torture under international law, by the UN Commitee Against Torture.
My investigations have led me to strong suspicion that the worst of these atrocities were instigated by overseas military intelligence agencies, as a form of clandestine outsourced ‘research’. This conjecture is backed by a very large body of circumstantial evidence, but not yet by direct documented evidence. You may be one of the very few who might be able to access such evidence. I seek your help.

You have been decrying the high US debt saying it is unsustainable. The debt is going to be used to cut programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food programs and others social benefits. Please don’t mention the debt without also mentioning where it has come from: tax cuts to the rich and corporations; a military budget as large as the next 10 countries combined; bailouts for the 2008 Great Recession; and Covid supports during the lock down.

I watch your interviews on judging freedom and peace dialogue weekly . I want you to know what you say does matter and from Australia I thank you . Their is so much more we can do in this world to change it .
How can we stop the genocide in Gaza? . How can we allow the Muslim Arab nations to help stop the genocide as they are being contained by Blinken.
Everyday I’m seeing children covered in burns in Gaza , we must not look away they need our steadfast effort to help them save them . We need to stop this and by stop this I mean stop the genocide today this week this month . How do we get Blinken to stop his fairy dust fake concern on camera to behind the scene tactics of containing the Muslim countries to just stand by and allow this slaughter to continue and now It’s easy to predict Blinken will be running around to allow Israel to flatten Lebanon. Every year in the 80,s we would house in Australia my aunty who previously worked in the Australian embassy in Lebanon she married and had children lived in Lebanon her stories of Israel wanting Lebanon for its water !
How do we stop the US from containing Arab counties having an all out war with Israel to save the Palestinians cause sadly the only way peace is going to happen in the Middle East is to dismantle a state based on a religion the greatest mistake of the UNSC was to create a slaughter in Palestine by creating a ARMED Jewish state . When I watch the creation of Israel documentaries the Jewish witnesses speak of how they arrived in Palestine how they were all ARMED by the Brits and how they slaughtered the Palestinians to get to their first hill on the land and how that was WONDERFUL. 750,000 Palestinians were made to leave under military pressure by the Brits Jewish people . This was pure insanity .
Slaughtering Palestinians was wonderful to the Jewish people in 1948 . How in gods name was this ever allowed. The UNSC the UNGA has failed in its mandate of peace . The P5 veto is undemocratic . It has allowed wars to happen not stop them . It has allowed the genocide in Gaza to happen by the US veto . It’s time change the UNSC veto . How can we make this happen?
If peace needs to happen which it does to save humanity the veto needs to be abandoned finished .

For years I watched the daily suffering of the people in Free Syria . 9 years on 3 million of them are now living in Idlib Bessar brick room with 4 kids . They are not allowed to leave they are not allowed to attend school and they have no food . These people are hungry their kids need to go to school. Before the war they had homes and education now they have nothing and their is no rebuild , we cannot forget them .
What can I do ? I want to start a charity to help them .
People say the US is responsible. The US gave the resistance freedom fighters 20 bullets a day in sandwich bags ! True! All they wanted was a no fly zone to stop butcher Assad’s barrel bombs . Centcom wouldn’t even let the white helmets get a early radar system . The US never helped the free Syrian people they contained them . During the war I would tell my Syrian friend a surgeon that the UN will help them that the US will help them he told me “The UN is with Assad , you cannot trust the US they will leave you at a moments notice like they did to us in Iraq. My friend lost 11 members of his family to Assad he himself had been abducted by Assad tortured for being a doctor they tortured him because he wouldn’t join Hezbollah .
Obama played golf while Syrian kids were suffocating on Assad’s chlorine bombs . What does Russia do . Putin covers them in white phosphorus so they hold up their dead charcoal babies in the air calling for gods help . Allahu Akbar is said in good times and bad . I became friends with a field doctor in the Syrian war . It lead me on a mission to help them . The US sanctions still make it illegal to even send food help to the Syrians in Idlib. God forbid we even let them have food ! 3 million people living in brick tents for 9 years . No rebuild . Assad smashed it to the ground.
Idlib needs rebuilding and we need economic investment to get their homes and businesses thriving in Idlib we need food community gardens farms .
3 million innocent Syrians cannot live in tents forever.
They cannot go to Turkey.
During the Syrian civil war I became friends with a 3 time combat veteran in US . He went onto Uni studying political science he could never get work . He writes sci fi books on his experiences in war, He told me what happened to him in Panama and Somalia .
