Pentagon Ends Transgender Military Ban

 06/30/2016

Statement regarding the Pentagon’s decision to end the transgender military ban by Michael L. “Mikey” Weinstein, Founder and President of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) unwaveringly commends the Pentagon and Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s momentous decision ending the ban on transgender people from serving openly in the U.S. military. This decision cements major steps that our U.S. military has made in recent years to become a more inclusive environment (most notably concerning the role of women and the inclusion of gays, lesbians, and bisexual service members). The Pentagon’s announcement points markedly to an ongoing cultural conversation about gender and asks the American people to shift their thinking about who is deemed acceptable of serving in the armed forces. As a champion of human rights, especially in terms of the freedom of and freedom from religion in the military, MRFF finds it crucial to support the right of individuals to freely express their gender. MRFF currently represents over 46,200 active duty, veteran and retired clients of which 927 identify as LGBT and 12 who are transgender. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) stands in solidarity with LGBT service members and other marginalized members who should be able to serve without fear of reprisal.

VA is already having tremendous problems treating the huge number of veterans without adding transgender veterans released from the service to the problem.

Yet it was announced today, June 30, 26, that TRANSGENDER PEOPLE WILL BE ALLOWED TO SERVE OPENLY IN THE U.S. MILITARY.

As you will see below, transgenders have a very high rate of suicide and psychiatrists have changed the name “transgender” to “gender dysphoria” and have lied to the public so that transgenders are sure to be treated and private psychiatrists will be paid.
