To whom it may concern,
I respectfully ask you to reconsider your objection to Franklin Graham speaking at the Pentagon during the National Day of Prayer. Franklin Graham has worked tirelessly in helping disaster stricken counties. Muslims endorse his efforts to help others.
Thank you,

Dear Mr. (name withheld)

Thank you for your e-mail to MRFF. My name is Rick Baker and I am a regional coordinator for MRFF. Your note has been forwarded to me for review.

I’m sure your information regarding Mr. Graham’s feeling about Islam is accurate. Perhaps it references certain sects or divisions with which he has had some good relations. However, the main thrust of Mr. Grahams recent national TV appearance was that Islam was a”Vile and Evil” religion.

Expressing such negatives about Islam is a direct insult not only to Muslims world wide but those Muslims who are and have been American citizens for generations.

The invitation for Mr. Graham to speak at the national Day Of Prayer ceremony at the Pentagon was ill-advised for other reasons as well. It is a direct violation of the Lemon Test as set forward by the US Supreme Court in which the government may not recommend, prefer, elevate or  become excessively involved with a particular religion.

Since MRFF’s primary function  is to monitor and curtail coercive  and command centered religious  proselytizing in our armed forces and to identify and object to efforts by militant religious organizations to carry out such evangelizing  It is therefore necessary for us to object to Mr. Graham’s appearance.

Please visit our web site at militaryreligiousfreedom.org  for more information concerning this and other remedial activities in which MRFF has participated.

Again, thank you for your note.
Rick Baker
